Worcester Sheriff Police Beat / Hare will dwell like a turtle in slammer for bank heist

Hare admitted that after robbing the tellers in the lobby, Hare found a bank employee who had locked herself in a back room of the bank. Hare forced open the locked door and demanded her car keys and her purse. The employee gave Hare her purse, which contained cash and personal effects, and the keys to her car, a 2007 Kia Spectra, which was parked in the bank’s parking lot.

Heroin: From Shore to Shore, Maryland’s Black Plague of Death

DENTON, MD. — Heroin, the home wrecker, the heart-stopper, the black ice. For some, the final door to hell.

Maryland officials are scrambling statewide to find a way to reduce heroin use and the crescendo of overdose deaths linked to heroin and to that of a new/old synthetic drug called Molly, which killed two young people at a traveling dope show held last weekend at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md.

One particularly dangerous version of the toxic drug is a fentanyl-laced heroin.

Heroin was once the province of junkies in the inner city — desperate and degraded, shooting up in alleys and tenements of major cities.

Berlin: DUI crashes, fatal wrecks and arrests highlights Maryland State Police activity

SNOW HILL, MD. Maryland State Police report that on June 29, 2014, at approximately 0247 hrs, troopers responded to the area of 3323 Snow Hill Road for a reported single vehicle collision. Upon the arrival of troopers it was determined Michael Cieslak of Washington DC was traveling on Snow Hill Road in a 2006 Mercedes when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The Mercedes left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Cieslak was treated on scene, but troopers noted evidence of impairment. Cieslak failed field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest. He was transported back to the Berlin Barrack, and he agreed to take an evidentiary breath test yielding a result of 0.17 grams of alcohol per 210 ml of breath. Any breath sample of 0.08 or above is deemed to be impaired in the State of Maryland.

Crowds Surge at Ocean City

The cash registers were jingling at thousands of retail stores as shoppers loaded up on groceries and other items needed to fuel families on vacation at the beach this past weekend, throughout the Eastern Shore of Maryland but especially at Ocean City.

The sales tax collection for Gov. Martin O’Malley’s spending programs must have been tremendous while a review of roadside campaign clutter revealed that the big fight between O’Malley’s junior partner and Republican Larry Hogan has yet to catch fire.

Eastern Shore Police Beat: Edward Allen Golden 2nd with DUI on Rt. 50; Kenneth Larkin wanted for robbery

Larkin pushed the clerk to the floor and was able to grab a PNC money bag from behind the counter before fleeing. Larkin was last seen fleeing the area on foot.
Larkin was last observed wearing a “do” rag on his head and sunglasses on his head, a blue tee shirt, and baggy blue jean shorts. Larkin also has numerous tattoos on each of his arms.

Ocean City Trolley passengers get around from Berlin and Ocean Pines

Shore Transit has planned a new trolley route to help visitors and residents in the West Ocean City, Ocean Pines and Berlin area travel this summer.
Thanks to the support of Worcester County and the Worcester County Tourism Office, the Town of Berlin, the Ocean Pines Association, Ocean Downs Casino, Burley Oak Brewing Company and the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, The trolley is scheduled to operate from 10 am to 10 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day
