Recovered Stolen Vehicle:
OCEAN CITY, MD. Maryland State Police report that on July 21, 2014, at approximately 1737 hrs, troopers stopped a 2005 Hyundai Elantra after it was determined the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle passed through a mobile automated license plate reader system prompting the warning the vehicle was stolen. Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Plattsburgh, New York, on July 17, 2014. Troopers located and stopped the vehicle in the area of W/B MD Route 90 west of US Route 113 in Worcester County. Through the investigation it was determined the suspects were also wanted on several outstanding warrants. Rachael Larane Wilson of Laurel, Maryland, was the driver. She was wanted in Howard County for failing to appear in court regarding unauthorized removal of property.
Steven Jesse Erby of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, was a passenger. He was wanted in Howard County and Charles County; the charges in Howard County related to failing to appear in court for theft and giving a false statement to a police officer, and the charges in Charles County related to failing to appear in court for theft charges. In addition to the service of the warrants on both subjects, Erby was charged with various counts of identity theft stemming from the investigation surrounding the traffic stop and the theft of the motor vehicle. Wilson was also charged for the theft of the motor vehicle. Both Wilson and Erby were held at the Worcester County Detention Center after they were taken before a District Court Commissioner.
BERLIN, MD. — Maryland State Police report that on July 11, 2014, at approximately 1445 hrs, Tpr. Broadwater was working a stationary laser assignment W/B US Route 50 @ Hall Road, Worcester County. He targeted a Lexus traveling in lane one and observed the Lexus to be traveling above the posted speed limit of 55 mph. Tpr. Broadwater then attempted to stop the Lexus; however, the driver accelerated past the trooper, and Tpr. Broadwater attempted to catch up to the suspect in a vehicle pursuit. The suspect traveled along westbound US Route 50 and then turned north onto MD Route 610. The suspect continued on MD Route 610 driving towards US Route 113 approximately 6 miles until such a time he lost control just prior to the US Route 113 intersection. The suspect was approaching traffic from behind and applied the vehicle’s brakes which caused the Lexus to fishtail. Ultimately the Lexus rotated clockwise, struck a roadside pole (wooden pole), traveled off the roadway and overturned several times. The suspect was ejected, but was conscious and alert at the scene. He was transported by ambulance to PRMC in Salisbury for the injuries suffered. Found at the collision scene were several types and various amounts of CDS (drugs). The driver, identified as Tyrell Oliver of Berlin, Maryland, was charged with numerous traffic violations as well as CDS-related violations.
Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision:
OCEAN CITY, MD. The Berlin Barrack of the Maryland State Police reports that on July 8, 2014, at approximately 0529 hrs, troopers responded to the area of Westbound MD Route 90 and Ocean Parkway for a reported single vehicle collision. Upon the arrival of troopers and EMS it was determined the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, Christopher Doyle of Berlin, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The investigation determined Doyle left the roadway and struck a tree with his 1997 Ford F150, and he was not restrained by a seatbelt. The roadway was shutdown from the onset of the collision until approximately 0900 hrs.
DUI CRASHES
BERLIN, MD. — Maryland State Police report that on July 5, 2014, at approximately 0907 hrs, troopers responded to the area of Eastbound US Route 50 and MD Route 346 for a reported single vehicle collision. It was determined Jessica Ordonez of Hyattsville failed to maintain control of her vehicle, and it left the roadway striking subsequently striking a tree. Ordonez refused medical treatment, but troopers detected signs of impairment. Ordonez submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing but was placed under arrest after her performance. Ordonez submitted to an evidentiary breath test with a result of 0.19 grams of alcohol per 210 ml of breath.
DUI-related Collision:
SNOW HILL, MD. Maryland State Police report that on June 29, 2014, at approximately 0247 hrs, troopers responded to the area of 3323 Snow Hill Road for a reported single vehicle collision. Upon the arrival of troopers it was determined Michael Cieslak of Washington DC was traveling on Snow Hill Road in a 2006 Mercedes when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The Mercedes left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Cieslak was treated on scene, but troopers noted evidence of impairment. Cieslak failed field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest. He was transported back to the Berlin Barrack, and he agreed to take an evidentiary breath test yielding a result of 0.17 grams of alcohol per 210 ml of breath. Any breath sample of 0.08 or above is deemed to be impaired in the State of Maryland.
DUI-related Collision:
OCEAN CITY, MD. — On June 27, 2014, at approximately 1904 hrs, troopers responded to the area of MD Route 90 and St. Martins Neck Road in Worcester County in reference to a two vehicle collision. Through the investigation it was determined Ronald Wesche of Bishopville was traveling eastbound along MD Route 90 when he failed to maintain control of his 1997 Dodge pickup truck. Wesche subsequently rear-ended a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz. No injuries were reported, however, it was determined Wesche exhibited clues of impairment. He was subsequently arrested for DUI. Wesche refused to submit to an evidentiary breath test.

Dope with heat on hip had more dope in console
BERLIN, MD. — Maryland State Police report that a Delaware man was packing heat when he was offered the benefits of performing a field sobriety test, for his own safety, after being stopped for having a headlight out on his Corvette. On 6/14/2014 at approximately 2342 hours, Trooper Marshall was on patrol when he observed a 1976 red Chevy Stingray Corvette with an inoperative headlight. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and the driver was identified by his Delaware driver’s license as Raymond M. Cook of Seaford. Cook was asked to exit the vehicle in order to perform field sobriety tests after Tpr. Marshall observed signs of impairment. Subsequently, Cook was found to be wearing and carrying a loaded .38 caliber revolver on his hip. Cook was immediately taken into custody, and a further search of Cook’s vehicle revealed 7.80 grams of marijuana and a smoking device in the center console.
Wanted Subject Arrested:
OCEAN PINES, MD. — Maryland State Police report that on 6/10/2104 at approximately 1300 hrs, troopers in conjunction with federal and local authorities located and arrested Orion Christopher Conway. Conway was wanted on several burglary charges committed in the Worcester County area. Conway was found to be in the area of the Ocean Pines Library and its community pool but fled into the woods before being apprehended. Support from the Maryland State Police Aviation Division was called for, and MSP helicopter, Trooper 4, responded. Soon thereafter Conway was located and arrested.
Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision:
BERLIN, MD. On 6/08/2014 at approximately 0401 hrs, troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to a single vehicle collision that was reported to have occurred on US Route 50 west of Riddle Lane in Worcester County. When troopers arrived it was determined the vehicle had been occupied by the driver only who was ejected during the collision event. The driver was identified as Ryan Young Hatton, 22, of Glenn Dale, Prince George’s County, Maryland. Hatton was taken by ambulance to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, where he succumbed to his injuries. Through the investigation it was determined Hatton was traveling westbound on US Route 50 west of Riddle Lane when he lost control of the 2000 Toyota he was driving. The vehicle traveled through the median, across the eastbound lanes of US Route 50 and struck a traffic signal support pole at the intersection for one of the entrances into Walmart/Home Depot before coming to final rest. Eastbound US Route 50 was shutdown for several hours during the investigation and debris cleanup. Assisting at the scene was Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies, Berlin Fire Department, and SHA.
