Talbot County Sheriff Dallas Pope participated in narco-terror seminar on Texas border with Mexico

Sheriffs attending the summit were hosted by Texas Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West who shares a county border of 98 miles with Mexico; of which only 4 miles have a 16 foot border fence.

In the Mexican town of Praxedis G. Guerrero which abuts Hudspeth County, former police Chief Manuel Castro was tortured, killed, and beheaded in 2009. In addition to cross border crime issues, the role of policing this open border falls to the US Border Patrol and the 14 Deputies of the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office.

He also contacted legitimate refineries in Dubai, claiming to have gold from Mali and Ghana that he was capable of transporting if appropriate contracts could be consummated.

The defendants frequently shared with one another the proceeds they illegally obtained, and used their power, authority and official positions as police officers to promote and protect their illegal activity. Among other things, the defendants used POPR firearms, badges, patrol cars, tools, uniforms and other equipment to commit the crimes, and then concealed their illegal activity with fraudulently obtained court documents and falsified POPR paperwork that made it appear they were engaged in legitimate police work.

Eastern Shore Police Beat: Mindy Smith was reluctant to show for trial in drug dealing case

Narrative: On 20 August 2014 at 4:33 PM a deputy arrested Mindy Smith on an outstanding Circuit Court Bench Warrant that was issued after she failed to appear for a jury trial in a CDS Distribution case.
Following arrest, Smith was detained without bond in the Detention Center pending an initial appearance in front of a Circuit Court Judge.

When a multi-agency force took down the operation in 2012, nearly 30 individuals were arrested and charged with various counts of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods, as well as other crimes—including money laundering and drug trafficking.

“This was a complex case,” said Special Agent Ron Pascale, who worked the investigation from our Newark Division. “But over time, we identified the entire conspiracy and dismantled it.”

Country drug dealers hit the big time in big house; 15 years for ‘Kojack’ Berry

According to Berry’s plea agreement and other court documents, from February 2012 to April 2013, Berry conspired with Damon Estep, Alrahman Allen, Jamar Holt and others to distribute cocaine and crack in southern St. Mary’s County. Holt provided Allen with cocaine and other drugs and then regularly called Estep to coordinate the delivery of cocaine to Estep, Berry or others from St. Mary’s County.

Nearly every week, Berry, Estep and others met Allen in the Glen Burnie area and paid Allen for one-fourth, one-half and one kilogram quantities of cocaine for further distribution in St. Mary’s County by Estep, Berry and others at Estep’s direction. Once Berry and others transported the cocaine back to their stash locations in St. Mary’s County, Estep and others would cook portions of the cocaine into crack, and distribute the cocaine and crack throughout southern Maryland at Estep’s direction.
