Security Camera Revealed Bozo Ripped Toilet Loose, Flooded Laundromat

Hillcrest Coin Laundry, 2012 Lafayette Blvd, 8/8 2:00 a.m. A customer reported that he arrived at the business around 6:50 a.m. and found the building flooded. A check of the security camera showed a male subject entering the building around 2 a.m. through an unsecured door and moving out of camera range into the bathroom, where it was later discovered that the toilet had been forcibly removed from the floor. The suspect was a white male in his 30s with medium length blond hair and a dark colored ball cap. The investigation is ongoing.

Hagerstown crabhouse double-dipper in poaching sting for undersize crabs

HAGERSTOWN, MD. — According to the Maryland Natural Resources Police, a follow-up visit to a Hagerstown seafood shop charged earlier in the month with selling illegal crabs yielded more of the same last Thursday, the Maryland Natural Resources Police reported.

An officer conducting an inspection at Cameron’s Seafood on Dual Highway discovered one bushel with 82 undersized crabs and another with 42 undersized crabs. On Aug. 1, he found one bushel with 110 undersized crabs and another with 59 undersized crabs.

For the latest violations, Hussein Kato Katende, 38, of Columbia, was issued two citations and the crabs were delivered to a Hagerstown food bank.

Marine Robert Thomas, of Cambridge, shared memories with recruiters at Salisbury

One of these storytellers is Robert Thomas. Recently, the 73-year-old Salisbury native came by the recruiting office with his dress blues jacket from when he served many years ago. He was not there to show them off, but he had a favor to ask of the Marines. It was a favor that turned out to be a story 50 years in the making.

Thomas was born and raised in the rural farmlands of Cambridge, Md. While he was a senior in high school, he decided to join the Marines, much to the chagrin of his mother.

“I knew at the time when I graduated I did not want anything to do with college,” said Thomas. “I was not ready for it and would probably have been a disaster if I had gone to college.”

Beach News: DUI driver had two fender-benders and had no desire to dance with Rehoboth Police

REHOBOTH DEL. — Rehoboth Beach police made a quick arrest after an intoxicated female driver did not initially stop for officers on Rehoboth Avenue.

Police had received a tip that the driver of a blue Dodge Neon could be intoxicated and had left the scene of two fender-benders on Second Street and was headed for the Sandcastle Hotel around 3:14 p.m. Tuesday.

In less than a minute of receiving the report, Rehoboth Beach police were behind her car. She headed through the intersection at Second Street and turned east on Rehoboth Avenue.

Two retailers convicted for food stamp fraud; scheme netted more than a million each

BALTIMORE, MD—A federal jury convicted Abdulmalik Abdulla, age 37, and Ahmed Mohssen, age 54, both of Baltimore, today on charges of food stamp fraud and wire fraud in connection with a scheme to illegally redeem food stamp benefits in exchange for cash.

The convictions were announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge William G. Squires, Jr. of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General, Northeast Region; and Special Agent in Charge Stephen E. Vogt of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Retailers who trade food stamp credits for cash are on notice that federal authorities are on their trail,” said U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein. “Taxpayers fund the program to provide food for needy recipients, not to turn retail store cash registers into ATM machines.”

Frederick Drug Shop on Wheels Gave Cops a Hell-Ride on Interstate

FREDERICK, MD. — According to Frederick Police on 08-4-2014 at approximately 1510 hours, an off duty Frederick Police Officer was in the area of Woodville Rd. and Rt. 144, when he observed an RV being operated in a reckless manner, swerving in the roadway and nearly causing several collisions. The officer followed the RV from Rt. 144 onto Rt. 70 W/B and from there to the City of Frederick limits. The officer continued to observe violations and a second city officer along with 2 Maryland State Police Troopers were able to join him in the area of Rt. 15 and Motter Ave. and stopped the RV on the Motter Ave. ramp.

Further investigation revealed the operator of the RV to be in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana. During a subsequent search incident to arrest, significant quantities of other controlled dangerous substances were found including Amphetamine, Methadone, Bath Salts, Oxycodone and Cocaine.

ALCOHOL VIOLATION – On July 25, 2014, Deputy Krum assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspects Francine Mae Morgan, 55, of Lexington Park, and James Calvin Morgan, 49, of Lexington Park, in the area of South Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, consuming alcoholic beverages. Both were charged with the violation by criminal citation.
