On August 14 at approximately 10:05 a.m., the Emergency Communications Center (9-1-1) received a call for an armed robbery in progress at Sweeney Building Services located at 18931 Premier Court in Gaithersburg. Two suspects entered the business armed with a handgun and a taser. They obtained an undisclosed amount of cash. The victims were able to give descriptions of both suspects and the vehicle used to leave the scene. Using this information, detectives began their investigation.

Outlaw watermen and unsporting hunters meet the law officers on fields and streams

SALISBURY, MD. — In Wicomico County, just before noon on Monday, an officer on patrol in Salisbury noticed a truck filled with 24 bushel baskets of oysters. The truck did not display a tidal fish license number, as required by state law, and the bushel baskets were not properly tagged.

Severn Reid Mister Jr., 57, and Cody Eugene Cavalier, 23, both of Easton were each charged with 12 counts of failing to tag oysters.

They are scheduled to appear in Wicomico District Court on Jan. 6. If found guilty of all counts, each man could be fined a maximum of $6,600.

Police say that the vehicle was noted for a speed violation in the area of S/B US Rt. 13 north of the Maryland/Virginia line. During the course of the stop, Troopers conducted a K-9 free air sniff of the vehicle utilizing a State Police canine. The scan resulted in a positive alert for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Search of the vehicle produced a suit case in the trunk of the vehicle. Inside of the suitcase was a shoe box containing a significant quantity of cocaine.

Michael M. McCarraher took his turn too wide; was nearly three times the legal limit in DUI arrest

DUI-Related Collision: On November 6, 2014 at approximately 1613 hours, Michael M. McCarraher was driving a 1994 Jeep Wrangler north along MD Route 589 when he attempted to turn onto Beauchamp Road. McCarraher was not able to properly turn (turned wide) and struck the driver’s side door of a 2010 Nissan Rogue stopped on Beauchamp Road at the intersection awaiting for the traffic light to change. McCarraher was deemed to be impaired and subsequently arrested. He submitted to an evidentiary breath test with a result of 0.19 grams of alcohol. There were no injuries in the collision.

CHESTERTOWN, MD) – A Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation has led to the arrest of a Queen Anne’s County man for the distribution of child pornography.

The accused is identified as Zachary A. Geyer, 24, of the 300-block of Longfellow Drive, Chestertown, Md. He is charged with two counts of distribution of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography. Geyer was arrested and is currently being held on $1 million bond in the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center.

Eastern Shore Police Beat: Farmer scared off Smith Brothers Burglars stealing copper; deputies track them to scrap yard

The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) was involved in this case. Detectives learned the males drove to a scrap yard where they scrapped the stolen items. One of the main suspects was identified as Shaun David Smith through the investigation. Another male present with Shaun was his father, Dennis Andrew Smith. The third male was not able to be identified at that time. Arrest warrants were obtained for Shaun and Dennis Smith. On November 11, 2014, Shaun and Dennis Smith were taken into custody at Mid-Shore Scrap while trying to scrap more stolen items.

Anne Arundel Police Beat: Cops followed trail of evidence to Baltimore City that pointed to suspect in attempted murder and sexual assault in flophouse
