Over the summer, hundreds of imposters and one genuine Diamond Jim will be pursued by anglers. Each month that Diamond Jim goes uncaught, the reward increases from $10,000 in June, to $20,000 in July, and $25,000 in August. With a $25,000 guaranteed payout, if Diamond Jim is not caught by midnight Labor Day the cash will be split equally among those who catch imposters.
Last year was the first time in the contest’s nine-year history that the official Diamond Jim was caught. The captor, Blair Wheeler, 25 of Herndon, Va., walked away with the $25,000, and other great prizes. A novice angler, Wheeler snagged the winning striper while fishing aboard a charter boat.
In the early morning hours of May 25, members of the group, including the suspect, left the hotel room while the victim was asleep. The suspect, who was later identified as Romer Ortuno, 29, of Springfield, VA, then returned to the room where he entered through an unlocked window and reportedly raped the victim

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. today, Maryland State Police criminal investigators responded to Green’s apartment to conduct an investigation into his death. The preliminary investigation indicates a friend of Green’s went to the residence to check on him this morning. Green had not been heard from since June 3rd and he had failed to report for classes yesterday at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he was a graduate student.
About one mile further on Rt. 40, the preliminary investigation indicates Macintosh lost control of the motorcycle when he entered a curve. The motorcycle left the roadway and Macintosh was ejected

Only Commissioner Danny Morris and I remained true to our long standing commitment to protect quality of life and the interests of the majority of working and retired taxpayers.
