According to the Maryland Fire Marshal potentially deadly activity has been causing several victims to receive serious burn injuries resulting from pouring a liquid accelerant on their body and setting themselves on fire. The “Fire Challenge” is performed in front of a camera to be placed on social media sites for viewing and sharing with the world.
The seriousness of this stunt has rendered a call to parents and teenagers alike to discuss the potential effects of this activity. Several emergency rooms across the country have reported receiving victims with significant burn injuries to their upper torso and extremities. A 15 year-old male succumbed to his injuries in Buffalo, NY as a direct result of the activity.
FREDERICK, MD. — According to Frederick Police on 08-4-2014 at approximately 1510 hours, an off duty Frederick Police Officer was in the area of Woodville Rd. and Rt. 144, when he observed an RV being operated in a reckless manner, swerving in the roadway and nearly causing several collisions. The officer followed the RV from Rt. 144 onto Rt. 70 W/B and from there to the City of Frederick limits. The officer continued to observe violations and a second city officer along with 2 Maryland State Police Troopers were able to join him in the area of Rt. 15 and Motter Ave. and stopped the RV on the Motter Ave. ramp.
Further investigation revealed the operator of the RV to be in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana. During a subsequent search incident to arrest, significant quantities of other controlled dangerous substances were found including Amphetamine, Methadone, Bath Salts, Oxycodone and Cocaine.

ARRESTS 7-30-14
ALCOHOL VIOLATION – On July 25, 2014, Deputy Krum assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspects Francine Mae Morgan, 55, of Lexington Park, and James Calvin Morgan, 49, of Lexington Park, in the area of South Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, consuming alcoholic beverages. Both were charged with the violation by criminal citation.
According to Washington County Md. Sheriff’s deputies an oversize child went berserk and stabbed his grandma.
Deputies say that on 8-4-2014 at 8:35 AM Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 13704 Orchard Ridge Road in Hancock MD in reference to an out of control 6-year-old child that had stabbed his grandmother and was attempting to stab her again as well as his mother.
PINEY POINT, MD. — After playing a starring role in a federal sting of rockfish poaching in recent years, a St. Mary’s County seafood dealer is once again in the sights of lawmen.
According to the Maryland Natural Resources Police, which is hell-bent to enforce laws against harvesting undersized crabs, reports finding several bushels sold to a crabhouse in western Maryland that were delivered to it by the Golden Eye seafood owned by Robert Lumpkins of Piney Point.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police made good on its promise last weekend to crack down on illegal crabbing activities as part of the “Don’t Get Pinched” campaign.
From seafood shops to recreational crabbers and watermen, officers checked catches, licenses and records as they aggressively targeted violators across the State.

Theft/Shoplifting: On 7/28/14 @ 03:25 pm, Trooper Palumbo responded to the Walmart in Prince Frederick for a shoplifting complaint. Wendy L. Bartlett, 48 of Solomons, placed several items in her handbag and exited the store without paying for them. She was confronted in the parking lot by the Loss Prevention Officer and was detained until police arrived. She was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.
DUI & Morphine Pills: On 7/28/14 at 09:01 pm, Trooper First Class Barlow stopped a vehicle on Rt. 4 near Rt. 402 in Prince Frederick for traffic violations. TFC Barlow detected the faint odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. A field sobriety test was performed. Lamonte L. Cox Jr., 48 of Huntingtown, was arrested for driving under the influence. A search revealed numerous Morphine pills for which he did not have a prescription. Cox was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

6-1-14 Wayne Riley, age 50 of Woodbridge, VA was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged with Theft less than $500.
6-2-14 Jerry Taylor, age 46 of Pocomoke City, MD was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged with Assault – 1st Degree and Assault – 2nd Degree.
6-3-14 Quana Dennis, age 42 of Pocomoke City, MD was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged on a Warrant: Child Support – noncompliance by the Wicomico County Sherriff’s Office.
6-3-14 Joseph Richardson, age 29 of Pocomoke City, MD was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged with violating an exparte/protective order.
Howard County police have confirmed the death of a concertgoer who attended the all-day Mad Decent Block Party at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia yesterday.
Tyler Fox Viscardi, 20, of Raleigh, N.C., was transported by the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services just after 9 p.m. He was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at Howard County General Hospital. Preliminarily, it appears his death was the result of a drug overdose. Officials are still
working to determine what type of drugs were in his system.
Fire department personnel also transported a 17-year-old male from Woodbridge, Va., who appeared to be suffering from an overdose. He is currently in critical condition at the same hospital. It does not appear that the two young men knew one another.
Police report that on August 3, 2014, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the Baltimore, Gas and Electric (BGE) substation located in the 700 block of Cabin Branch Lane, Linthicum in reference to a burglary.
Upon arrival, officers met with a representative from BGE, who advised that he responded to the substation for a power outage that occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. Upon inspection, he discovered a theft of copper wiring. A further inspection revealed the theft occurred from two high-side air break structures.
