“We are going to move forward with our plan, despite the Speaker of the House’s refusal to introduce a supplemental budget that would have put more State Troopers on Maryland’s highways and funded the re-opening of the Annapolis barrack,” said Governor Hogan. “Our state troopers were an essential element in the restoration of order in Baltimore last month and their exemplary work in the city is evidence of just how much we need these new positions. It is unconscionable to deprive our state capital of a State Police barrack and the troopers necessary to ensure public safety or respond to an emergency.”

His Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Toyota RAV 4 that was traveling in the oncoming lane. The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old Hendon man, was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Preliminary investigation determined that a Nissan Sentra operated by Manuel A. Valencia of 1204 Summerwood Court in Arnold, Md., was southbound on Ritchie Hwy facing a red left turn arrow. The driver of that vehicle turned left towards College Pkwy in the path of a GMC truck that was headed northbound on Ritchie Hwy. The GMC struck the passenger side of the Nissan causing it to overturn. The vehicles eventually came to rest after the GMC pushed the Nissan sideways out of the intersection into the traffic signal support pole
