Calvert County airman sentenced to 120 years in prison for molesting infants and distributing child porn

According to the indictment, court documents and statements made at his plea hearing, on August 15, 2013, Gazafi engaged in a chat with an undercover officer on a website dedicated to incest discussions. During the chat, Gazafi discussed his sexual interest in children and advised that he had been drugging and molesting several children, including an infant. During the chat, Gazafi sent seven images to the undercover officer, three of which were child pornography Gazafi stated he produced after drugging the child. Gazafi was subsequently identified and arrested.

Metro announces Silver Line opening date for Saturday July 26, 2014

Metro General Manager and CEO Richard Sarles today announced the opening date for Silver Line service.

“We have set the opening date for the Silver Line as Saturday, July 26,” said Sarles. “The five new Silver Line stations will open to customers at noon, and the first Silver Line train will depart Wiehle-Reston East, bound for Largo Town Center, at that time.”

The announcement of an opening date follows two weeks of progress by the Airports Authority and their contractor to resolve open work items. Sarles noted that there are still remaining items — such as obtaining Certificates of Occupancy — that are expected to be resolved prior to the opening date.

Police Beat: Punk left basketball camp in Pittsburgh with a stolen cell phone; owner tracked it down to Calvert County residence

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. — A local heathen got a lesson in hi-tech theft prevention over his recent illegal acquisition of a cell phone when away at basketball camp. On 6/22/14 at 11:33 pm, Trooper First Class Matthews and Trooper Rowe responded to the 800 block of Calvert Towne Dr. in Prince Frederick in an attempt to locate a cell phone previously reported missing from a basketball camp in Pittsburg. The complainant tracked it to this location with the “Track my Iphone” application. A fourteen year old juvenile, who had attended the camp, was found to be in possession of the missing Iphone. He was arrested and released to his parent.

What we didn’t know then was why Cindy Jones would help a liberal Judge appointed by a liberal Governor, when she claims to be a conservative. Now we can piece together the full nature of the corruption. Cindy Jones sold her endorsement to Judge Densford and her vote to land developers (you may recall that last month she changed her vote on the issue of public sewer in Charlotte Hall and Mechanicsville). The real question that we must ask is if she sold her endorsement in support of our liberal Governor’s political appointee and she sold her vote as county commissioner to land developers then what will she do if she does win the State Senate seat?

Of course, Rue was himself often mentioned in terms that may not have been beneficial to his campaign for Commissioner President, against Barbara “Babs” Thompson in the GOP Primary. Rue was an important and dynamic part of the magic that made CHEAP SHOTS successful and added greatly to the well-being of our wonderful Tabloid which existed from 1989 until 2010 when it was sold. A short eight months later the new owner wasn’t able to deal with management strife, a national financial crisis, an unbelievable switch from coverage of crime and government to fluff and stuff and poof, he shut down ST. What many of them had in common was adherence to a political tradition in the Seventh District, often called “Dorsey-land” due to the tribe in local politics named for the late Judge Phillip H. Dorsey, and later led by his son, long-time St. Mary’s County States Attorney Walter B. Dorsey. Judge Dorsey had his allies and they were the Baileys, Bo, Eddie, Bernard and many more. Others who were influential in the Dorsey Machine, as the liberals who had their own machine liked to call it, were “lieutenants” of the political organization – one of whom was Charlie Hall.

To simply report that Charlie Hall just kicked the bucket is to do the man a great injustice, without describing the important role he played in the politics and life of one county of three-thousand in America.

Charlie rose from being a lieutenant to being a standard-bearer in that in 1974 he mounted a credible campaign for County Commissioner and lost the Democratic Primary to John Knight Parlett, the scion of a gas empire on the east coast.

Rameesha Smith Sentenced for Role in Credit Card Fraud Scheme Targeting Accountholders and Area Retailers

Smith pleaded guilty on March 10, 2014. According to court documents, from at least as early as September 2010 through at least October 2012, Smith conspired with others to purchase stolen credit card data on the Internet or through other means. This stolen data was then unlawfully loaded onto gift cards or unlawfully encoded onto other credit or debit cards through the use of device-making equipment, such as credit card encoders. The counterfeit credit cards often were embossed with aliases belonging to the members of the conspiracy.

The Oak Tree Always Wins

Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle spun out of control and left the roadway where it ultimately struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at University of Maryland Shock Trauma at 10:26 p.m. Excessive speed is the main contributing factor in this collision. Alcohol usage and is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
