BALTIMORE, MD.  Anne Arundel Police report that Joseph Brandon Orange was operating a small sedan at a high rate of speed when he flew off the road on a curve and into a tree.

On June 18, 2014, at approximately 9:27 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Traffic Safety Section responded to a single vehicle collision into a tree on northbound Arundel Expressway (MD Route 10) prior to I-695.

Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.  The vehicle spun out of control and left the roadway where it ultimately struck a tree.  The driver was pronounced dead at University of Maryland Shock Trauma at 10:26 p.m. Excessive speed is the main contributing factor in this collision. Alcohol usage and is unknown at this time.  The investigation is ongoing.

Driver: Joseph Brandon Orange, 22, of Pasadena, MD

Injuries/Condition: Fatal

Passenger #1: Justin Scott Conley, 20, of Pasadena, MD

Injuries/Condition: Incapacitating injuries but stable at University of Maryland Shock Trauma

Passenger #2: Zachary Leonardi Payne, 21, of Pasadena, MD

Injuries/Condition: Critical condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma
