The officer approached the room and observed a vehicle that was occupied. The officer approached the vehicle to investigate if it was involved while still being conscientious of room #225. As the officer walked up on the vehicle, he observed the door of room #225 open with a male suspect exiting and holding a handgun.

The officer immediately drew his firearm and announced his presence at which time a second male suspect with a handgun exited the room. Both suspects then fled on foot toward Russet Green with the officer in pursuit.

The 29-year-old female victim’s husband was targeted, but not home at the time. Investigation revealed that the suspects drove down from New Jersey complaining that the victim’s husband owed them money. The first suspect tried to force his way into the victim’s mobile home at gunpoint, but the managed to kick the suspect before he could gain entrance. That suspect then fled to a waiting vehicle being driven by a second suspect.

MAN WITH A GUN – At approximately 9:10 PM, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on Old Village Road in Mechanicsville. The vehicle had left the roadway and was stuck in a ravine. The driver was armed with a firearm and was threatening suicide. Additional personnel responded to the scene. After a short stand off the subject exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident or injury. The subject was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for an emergency evaluation.

An overhead camera, also installed by the suspect at the ATM, is believed to be recording each customer’s password. Once the information is stolen, it can be used to make unauthorized transactions. Police believe the amount of money stolen at this time is more than $100,000. The suspect is believed to be operating in multiple counties in Maryland and possibly in one or more surrounding states.
