Mutiny on the Genco Challenger? Two stabbed, one missing in high seas drama

REHOBOTH, DEL. (Special from the Beach News) — Was it a case of mutiny, a deranged crew member having a psychotic episode or something entirely different that took the lives of two of the ship’s crew and injured a third? We may never know because what happened aboard the Genco Challenger took place in international waters about 27 miles south/southeast of Rehoboth Beach.

Scott Lloyd-Owen flown to trauma unit after booze cruise on his bike; was ticketed for speeding twice last year

Maryland State Police report that on August 16, 2014 at approximately 9:21 pm, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack responded to the area of Rue Purchase Road, north of Dunleigh Drive for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation revealed a yellow and black 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 750 motorcycle, operated by Scott Lloyd-Owen, 25, of California, was traveling north on Rue Purchase Road. Lloyd-Owen failed to properly negotiate a turn in the roadway, and the motorcycle traveled off the roadway and struck a guardrail.

Beltway Beat: Lexus driver Aarrayn Perez dead after she failed to yield and killed District woman

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Upper Marlboro. The victims are identified as 19-year-old Aarrayn Jourdin Perez of Ranch Road in Upper Marlboro, and 66-year-old Barbara Armes of 19th Street in Southeast Washington.

On August 15, 2014, at about 8:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Ritchie Marlboro Road and North Riding Road for the report of a crash involving two cars. Perez and Armes, the driver and passenger in one car, were both pronounced dead on the scene.

Southern Maryland Police Beat: burglar tried to get religion at Holy Face Church

GREAT MILLS, MD. St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron is short on providing details on this burglary attempt of Holy Face Church located in Rt. 5 in Great Mills, as much as other incidents in his daily crime report. All the Sheriff released was that an attempted burglary of the church was made on Aug. 15, 2014. There were no photos or video released along with the report, nor was the time of day or night indicated.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis reports that on 08/14/14 at approximately 0109 hours, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7000 block of Parsonsburg Road, Parsonsburg, MD for reports that Jason Michael Layfield was discharging a shotgun outside as well as inside the home and threatening the occupants.

OCEAN CITY POLICE BEAT: cause of death pending results of autopsy of Jorge Troca, 38, of Lyndhurst N.J.

OCEAN CITY, MD. — (August 16, 2014) – On August 16, 2014, at approximately 3 a.m. Ocean City Communications received a call reporting an adult male had been located unconscious and unresponsive inside a hotel room in the area of 4701 Coastal Highway, in Ocean City.

First responders from the Ocean City Police and Fire Departments initiated emergency lifesaving procedures on the victim and transported him to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 3:45 a.m. The victim has been identified as Jorge Troca, 38, of Lyndhurst, NJ.

Motorcyclist Dies in Fatal Crash

SPRINGFIELD, VA. — Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Braddock Road near the ramp to Fairfax County Parkway on Thursday, August 14.

A 1999 Honda motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Braddock Road, making a lefthand turn to exit onto the Fairfax County Parkway at around 6:30 p.m. As the driver turned, he collided with a 2004 Dodge van that was traveling westbound on Braddock Road. The motorcyclist, Edy Jimenez-Balderrama, 20, of Manassas was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he later died. The driver of the van was not injured.

NOTRE DAME ARROGANCE AND PRIDE

Notre Dame has made it the norm to lose to teams like Michigan State, Connecticut, Navy, North Carolina, and Boston College. These are not top ten powerhouse schools, but then again, neither is Notre Dame.

Since Lou Holtz left the program, nothing has been the same. Brian Kelly has the makings of a good coach. The university should not be quick to fire him after three or four years. He will need time to get his team, his players, and his mindset instilled into this program.
