Ocean City Restaurant Robbed by Employee Who Had “An App for That”!

OCEAN CITY, MD. — (February 8, 2015) – In the old days, employees at various bars and restaurants would simply slip money out of the till when no one was looking.

Then business owners wised up and put in cameras to catch thieves in the act of pilfering bucks out of the cash register or stealing product and taking it out the back door and hiding it with the trash to retrieve later.

Now, police say that a simple app on a smart phone designed to accept credit card payments from customers was used to scam over two thousand bucks from an Ocean City restaurant.

Ocean City Police Beat: motorist dead after veering into utility pole

OCEAN CITY, MD. – Ocean City Police report the death of an Ocean City motorist who veered off Baltimore Ave. near 6th Street and hit a utility pole.

When police and EMT workers arrived they report that they found the driver unconscious and upon rushing him to Atlantic General, in spite of CPR being administered along the way, the driver was pronounced dead.

Eastern Shore Police Beat: woman found dead next to car in Stockton; man with knife goes stab-less to jail

(December 11, 2014) – Ocean City Police report that they made room at the inn for another prisoner on December 10, 2014, at approximately 4:13 a.m. Ocean City officers responded to the area of 1st Street and Philadelphia Avenue for a report of trespassing. The suspect, later identified as Bryan K. Taylor, 48, of Ocean City, was given a trespass warning for the residence earlier in the morning in the presence of an officer and had returned to the property.

Burglars did another job while Ocean City cops watched them; then pounced on the suspects

Ocean City detectives were able to identify the two suspects through electronic surveillance. Detectives then conducted surveillance on the suspects and observed the two commit a separate theft outside of Ocean City and unload the stolen items from that theft at Armitage’s residence in Ocean City. Detectives placed Collins and Armitage under arrest. A search and seizure warrant was later executed at Armitage’s residence where detectives located numerous stolen items

Rip currents sweep 5 swimmers; 1 dead as lifeguards and EMS pulled them to shore

Ocean City police and fire departments, including the OCFD’s rescue swimmers, also responded to assist. Two of the victims required medical attention and were transported to Atlantic General Hospital by Ocean City EMS. The first victim, a 19-year-old male, was transported with non-life threatening injuries; however, the second victim, a 52-year-old male victim from Huntingdon, PA, was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the hospital.

(August 25, 2014) – According to Ocean City Maryland Police, on August 24, 2014, at approximately 3:12 a.m. Ocean City police were dispatched to area of 109 North Atlantic Avenue to assist Ocean City EMS, for a victim of an assault that had already occurred. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male that was unconscious and unresponsive in the parking lot of an area hotel.

First responders from the Ocean City Police and Fire Departments initiated emergency lifesaving procedures on the victim and transported him to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Justin Daniel Cancelliere, 37, North Whitehall, PA.

Carlton M. Stephenson III DUI extravaganza included high speeds and crash into condo’s power box

Stationary Traffic Safety Unit officers recorded the vehicle to be traveling at a steady speed of 98 mph in the area of 65th Street. Shortly after, the vehicle failed to control its speed and collided with a condominium building in the area of Coastal Highway and 72nd Street. The vehicle crashed into and destroyed electrical meters and an electrical box causing electrical fluid to saturate northbound Coastal Highway.

The collision caused northbound traffic to be rerouted to a single southbound lane for more than four hours as Ocean City Public Works and electrical crews worked to clean up the fluid spill and restore power to the building
