Opinion: Obama’s war on the poor continues – monthly electric bills will soar for those least able to pay

With winter on the way, Congress needs to act to protect the less fortunate by allowing them to choose affordable alternatives to safely heat their homes. The only better option would be to force the EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy to trade places for a few weeks in February with those who depend upon wood heat in sub-freezing temperatures and see if she changes her mind about her Agency’s attempt to force the poor to sacrifice basic necessities on the altar of climate change.

Opinion: The Bad Guys Don’t Obey the Rules

The latest surge of violence in many of our cities is seen as a response to what occurred in Baltimore. The police were told to refrain from acting so that the rioters could vent. Now it seems that the bad guys are taking that as a cue to become more violent. The statistics seem to support that thesis. Having the might and power is essential, but one must also have the will to use it.

Baltimore riots mark city’s tourism suicide note

All because a Mayor provided a not-so-subtle okay to the street criminals to destroy not only the city’s buildings, but also its good name and ripped the fabric of civilization and the illusion of security it provides. After all, who is going to spend a hot summer evening watching the Orioles play the Milwaukee Brewers if they know that they take their lives in their hands just walking to their cars to get home?

Editorial Opinion: Failure at every level in Baltimore

As for Governor Hogan: he said over and over he was frustrated that the mayor didn’t call. What a lot of malarkey. He is the elected Governor of the State of Maryland and has the executive authority to act, not to retreat to the more partisan political ineptitude of which the political leaders of the nation excel. Protocol? What protocol is it that the Governor has to wait to send in troops and police to keep order in the streets? Where is that written? He said he was ready to issue the order and did so thirty seconds after the Mayor FINALLY called for help. He said he already had the National Guard on alert. Why did it take until after midnight, six hours later before the first troops arrived in the heart of the riot area at six minutes after midnight?
