TYRANNY OVER THE MIND OF MAN
When the Taliban and ISIS take physical control of an area, they systematically destroy all of the cultural icons that are non-Islamic.
In America, when the forces of Political Correctness take political control of an area, they systematically destroy all of the cultural icons that are deemed offensive to any group. Instead of ethnic cleansing, we witness cultural cleansing. Never mind that their gospel of multicultural diversity is supposedly founded on the concept of tolerance and respect for others.
Instead of tolerance and respect, those accused of having committed the political sin of being offensive, which may include simply having a difference of opinion, are viciously attacked in public and social media, the modern day version of a public flogging. By this example of the dire consequences, intimidation and coercion are employed to impose conformity on all others.
Ignore at your peril the diminishment of freedom of speech, which is being subverted by a claimed right of some not to be offended by others. Appeasement will only encourage the self-appointed arbiters of our rights.
To sustain its political power, Political Correctness must have continued victories. One hundred and fifty years after the end of the civil war, a military icon of that long-ago conflict, which was subsequently expropriated and adulterated by politically and racially motivated groups, is being exploited for political gain. The demand is that the icon and everything historically associated with it deemed to be offensive must be banished. In fact, the icon is simply an expedient tool to gain submission to the demands of the would-be masters of American society.
Political Correctness is a form of social and political totalitarianism in which its advocates seek to hold total control over all aspects of public and private life. To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, Political Correctness is a form of tyranny over the mind of man.
I close with this quote by Frederick Douglass: “Find out just what the people will submit to and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong that will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.”
