Alcohol use on the part of Snyder is being considered as a factor in the crash. Snyder was also dressed in dark clothing and was not using a flashlight as required by law. He was cited by troopers with Walking on a Highway While Intoxicated, Failure to Carry a Light, and Stepping into the Path of a Car after Leaving a Curb.

Overloaded extension cord blamed for fatal fire that killed Bernice Washington and grand-child Zavion Atkins; 4 fled & left victims behind

WALDORF, Maryland (October 20, 2015) – Overloaded extension cord caused two deaths in Charles County fire. The Office of the State Fire Marshal reports that it has determined the origin and cause of a double fatal fire that claimed the life of two Waldorf family members. Investigators determined the fire originated within a hallway which separated the victims’ bedrooms and concluded the cause was an electrical failure due to an overloaded extension cord.

In addition to the 36 ambulances received, the PGFD has added/replaced nine (9) engines, three (3) ladder trucks, one (1) heavy-duty rescue squad, and has replaced the majority of the command vehicle fleet. In addition to the 13 ambulances on order, there is one (1) tower-ladder, one (1) hazardous materials squad, one (1) rehabilitation unit, and one (1) rehabilitation support unit on order with delivery expected on all units in calendar year 2016.
