Southern Maryland Police Beat: Guns and shots of firewater led to gunfire

LUSBY, MD. — Devon should likely go on the wagon, if his actions over the weekend are any example of what the rest of his life is all about.

On August 9 at 11:46 p.m. Dep. N. Gilmore responded to the Southern Community Center in Lusby for a reported fight in the parking lot.

Upon arrival Dep. Gilmore did not observe anyone fighting. As she patrolled the parking lot she saw a vehicle parked with the engine still running, occupied by two males. She saw a beer bottle near the rear tire on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

She approached the vehicle and noticed another can of beer by the driver’s legs and detected a strong odor of alcohol.

Police Beat: DUI driver smashed into signs of Ocean Downs and Ocean Pines as he chose new direction to jail

DUI-related Collision: On July 29, 2014, at approximately 0330 hrs, troopers responded to the area of MD Rt. 90 at the exit for MD Rt. 589 regarding a single vehicle collision. Upon the arrival of troopers it was determined Vinicius Freire Carneiro of Ocean City, MD, failed to maintain control of a 2004 Chevrolet truck as he exited onto MD Rt. 589 from westbound MD Rt. 90. The Chevrolet struck the Ocean Pines and the Ocean Downs Casino sign, traveled off the roadway, and into the woodline. Subsequently, the Chevrolet rolled onto its side. Carneiro refused medical treatment, but it was determined through the investigation he exhibited signs of impairment. Carneiro unsatisfactorily performed standardized field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested. Carneiro was transported to the MSP Berlin Barrack, but he refused to submit to a breath test. He was subsequently charged with the collision event and the DUI.

ARRESTS 7-30-14

ALCOHOL VIOLATION – On July 25, 2014, Deputy Krum assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspects Francine Mae Morgan, 55, of Lexington Park, and James Calvin Morgan, 49, of Lexington Park, in the area of South Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, consuming alcoholic beverages. Both were charged with the violation by criminal citation.

The following arrests are reported by the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack:

Theft/Shoplifting: On 7/28/14 @ 03:25 pm, Trooper Palumbo responded to the Walmart in Prince Frederick for a shoplifting complaint. Wendy L. Bartlett, 48 of Solomons, placed several items in her handbag and exited the store without paying for them. She was confronted in the parking lot by the Loss Prevention Officer and was detained until police arrived. She was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

DUI & Morphine Pills: On 7/28/14 at 09:01 pm, Trooper First Class Barlow stopped a vehicle on Rt. 4 near Rt. 402 in Prince Frederick for traffic violations. TFC Barlow detected the faint odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. A field sobriety test was performed. Lamonte L. Cox Jr., 48 of Huntingtown, was arrested for driving under the influence. A search revealed numerous Morphine pills for which he did not have a prescription. Cox was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

Berlin: DUI crashes, fatal wrecks and arrests highlights Maryland State Police activity

SNOW HILL, MD. Maryland State Police report that on June 29, 2014, at approximately 0247 hrs, troopers responded to the area of 3323 Snow Hill Road for a reported single vehicle collision. Upon the arrival of troopers it was determined Michael Cieslak of Washington DC was traveling on Snow Hill Road in a 2006 Mercedes when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The Mercedes left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Cieslak was treated on scene, but troopers noted evidence of impairment. Cieslak failed field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest. He was transported back to the Berlin Barrack, and he agreed to take an evidentiary breath test yielding a result of 0.17 grams of alcohol per 210 ml of breath. Any breath sample of 0.08 or above is deemed to be impaired in the State of Maryland.

Prince Frederick: Maryland State Police note recent arrests for DUI, drugs, deadly weapons — a Three D Week!

On 7/27/14 at 1:44 am, Master Trooper Gill responded to the 200 block of Lore Rd. in Solomon’s for an intoxicated subject that was threatening people. Joshua R. Albert, 34, of Spotsylvania, VA, was located. A check through NCIC revealed Albert had an active felony warrant through Stafford County and Spotsylvania County in Virginia. Albert was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

Lexington Park: Hobos & Hookers report exposes need for police – hobos pick-up horseshoe tournament

LEXINGTON PARK, MD. — St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron has his Hobos & Hooker Squad on the job in Sin City.

Police report that on July 22, 2014, Deputy Al Beishline observed Anthony Charles Wright, 45, of Lexington Park, on the property of St. Mary’s Square after having been served a no trespass notice for the property. Wright was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Trespass Private Property.
