Criminal takes a bite out of lawman

NORFOLK, Va. – According to Norfolk Police, there is no need in this case for anyone to take a bite out of crime. That is due to a Norfolk man taking a bite out of a police officer as he and another cop were attempting to quiet down an alleged hell-raising heathen who was later confined to a psych ward for evaluation.
Police say that two Norfolk officers were recovering at their homes on April 29, 2016, following an altercation in West Ocean View yesterday.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 200 block of West Ocean View Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday for a disorderly person. When officers arrived on the scene to speak with the man, he reportedly became combative and fought with police.
Both responding officers were injured while taking the man into custody. One officer sustained a significant bite wound and the second officer suffered what has been described as minor injuries. Both are at home, and should make a full recovery.
The man involved in the altercation has been identified as Felix Ofosu, of Norfolk. Ofosu was also treated at an area hospital for precautionary purposes and underwent an evaluation with Community Mental Health.
He has been charged with malicious wounding, disorderly conduct, strangulation, and two counts of assault on a police officer.
Ofosu is currently in the Norfolk City Jail held with no bond.
