Butt Heads Nabbed with Boatload of Illegal Butts & Stolen Credit Cards
SALISBURY, MD. – With Salisbury located on one of the principal north-south routes of crime, drugs and illegal cigarette movement on the East Coast a Wicomico Deputy made a big haul on March 24th.
According to Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis, on March 24, 2015 at 2:58 PM a deputy stopped a vehicle occupied by the above three subjects for a traffic violation on US 13 in Salisbury. During the stop the deputy observed furtive behavior by the occupants and also discovered that none of the three were listed as authorized users on the rental agreement.
A WCSO Drug K9 team arrived that alerted to the presence of the odor of illegal drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed marijuana paraphernalia in the vehicle along with marijuana secreted in the sock of Marc Louis.
Further search of the vehicle revealed 130 cartons of cigarettes in the trunk that were being transported through Maryland without paying the required Maryland tax.
All three subjects were arrested for bringing the cigarettes into the State of Maryland, presumably on their way to New York with them. All three were transported to the Central Booking Unit where they were processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner for their initial appearance.
The deputy also located 135 fraudulent credit cards in the vehicle. The investigation into the credit cards is ongoing.
Agents from the Maryland Comptroller’s Office and Homeland Security assisted with this investigation.
