FINAL CHECKOUT: Cops say man camped out with tent on bed in his motel room; found dead when he failed to check out on time

The initial investigation has determined that the incident was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015, after an employee of the Days Inn located at 900 Churchman’s Road in Newark, contacted 9-1-1 after finding a motel guest apparently deceased in his room after checking on his welfare. Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the motel where they located Matthew Ornstein, 34, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, unresponsive inside of a tent that he had erected on top of his bed inside of the room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

LOUISA COUNTY, VA. – Jason L. King, 35, of Bumpass, Va., was killed on New Year’s Eve by a Louisa County man who is now behind bars after being arrested for the fatal hit and run.

Thanks to the tips and leads called in by the public, Virginia State Police Trooper B. J. Dibble was able to identify, locate and arrest Corey M. Hall, 20, of Louisa County Thursday evening on January 1, 2015. Hall has been charged with Felony Hit and Run.

GREAT MILLS, MD. — On Friday, December 19, 2014 at 7:33 pm, Tpr. A. Oyler initiated a traffic stop on a gold passenger car on Route 237 at Horse Head Road for a minor traffic infraction. Upon making contact with the driver, Amanda L. Kinder, 30, of Great Mills, Tpr. Oyler observed that she appeared to be under the influence. Tpr. Oyler also observed a juvenile, 9 months, in the backseat. Ms. Kinder performed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While Impaired by Drugs or Alcohol. A search incident to arrest produced suspected CDS, and Ms. Kinder admitted to having taken Suboxone and Xanax prior to driving
