Berlin: DUI crashes, fatal wrecks and arrests highlights Maryland State Police activity

MD&period; Maryland State Police report that on July 21&comma; 2014&comma; at approximately 1737 hrs&comma; troopers stopped a 2005 Hyundai Elantra after it was determined the vehicle was stolen&period;  The vehicle passed through a mobile automated license plate reader system prompting the warning the vehicle was stolen&period;  Shortly thereafter&comma; it was confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Plattsburgh&comma; New York&comma; on July 17&comma; 2014&period;  Troopers located and stopped the vehicle in the area of W&sol;B MD Route 90 west of US Route 113 in Worcester County&period;  <&sol;span><&sol;span><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">Through the investigation it was determined the suspects were also wanted on several outstanding warrants&period;  <strong>Rachael Larane Wilson<&sol;strong> of Laurel&comma; Maryland&comma; was the driver&period;  She was wanted in Howard County for failing to appear in court regarding unauthorized removal of property&period;  <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;"><strong>Steven Jesse Erby<&sol;strong> of Seat Pleasant&comma; Maryland&comma; was a passenger&period;  He was wanted in Howard County and Charles County&semi; the charges in Howard County related to failing to appear in court for theft and giving a false statement to a police officer&comma; and the charges in Charles County related to failing to appear in court for theft charges&period;  In addition to the service of the warrants on both subjects&comma; Erby was charged with various counts of identity theft stemming from the investigation surrounding the traffic stop and the theft of the motor vehicle&period;  Wilson was also charged for the theft of the motor vehicle&period;  Both Wilson and Erby were held at the <strong>Worcester County Detention Center<&sol;strong> after they were taken before a District Court Commissioner&period; <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">BERLIN&comma; MD&period; &&num;8212&semi; Maryland State Police report that on July 11&comma; 2014&comma; at approximately 1445 hrs&comma; <strong>Tpr&period; Broadwater<&sol;strong> was working a stationary laser assignment W&sol;B US Route 50 &commat; Hall Road&comma; Worcester County&period;  He targeted a Lexus traveling in lane one and observed the Lexus to be traveling above the posted speed limit of 55 mph&period;  Tpr&period; Broadwater then attempted to stop the Lexus&semi; however&comma; the driver accelerated past the trooper&comma; and Tpr&period; Broadwater attempted to catch up to the suspect in a vehicle pursuit&period;  The suspect traveled along westbound <&sol;span><&sol;span><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">US Route 50 and then turned north onto MD Route 610&period;  <&sol;span><&sol;span><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi; font-size&colon; small&semi;">The suspect continued on MD Route 610 driving towards US Route 113 approximately 6 miles until such a time he lost control just prior to the US Route 113 intersection&period;  The suspect was approaching traffic from behind and applied the vehicle’s brakes which caused the Lexus to fishtail&period;  Ultimately the Lexus rotated clockwise&comma; struck a roadside pole &lpar;wooden pole&rpar;&comma; traveled off the roadway and overturned several times&period;  The suspect was ejected&comma; but was conscious and alert at the scene&period;  He was transported by ambulance to PRMC in Salisbury for the injuries suffered&period;  Found at the collision scene were several types and various amounts of CDS &lpar;drugs&rpar;&period;  <&sol;span><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">The driver&comma; identified as<strong> Tyrell Oliver<&sol;strong> of Berlin&comma; Maryland&comma; was charged with numerous traffic violations as well as CDS-related violations&period;<&sol;span><&sol;span> <span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi; font-size&colon; small&semi;"> <&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;"><em><strong>Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">OCEAN CITY&comma; MD&period; The Berlin Barrack of the Maryland State Police reports that on July 8&comma; 2014&comma; at approximately 0529 hrs&comma; troopers responded to the area of Westbound MD Route 90 and Ocean Parkway for a reported single vehicle collision&period;  Upon the arrival of troopers and EMS it was determined the driver and only occupant of the vehicle&comma; <strong>Christopher Doyle<&sol;strong> of Berlin&comma; suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision&period;  The investigation determined Doyle left the roadway and struck a tree with his 1997 Ford F150&comma; and he was not restrained by a seatbelt&period;  The roadway was shutdown from the onset of the collision until approximately 0900 hrs&period;  <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; 2014&comma; at approximately 0907 hrs&comma; troopers responded to the area of Eastbound US Route 50 and MD Route 346 for a reported single vehicle collision&period;  It was determined <strong>Jessica Ordonez<&sol;strong> of Hyattsville failed to maintain control of her vehicle&comma; and it left the roadway striking subsequently striking a tree&period;  Ordonez refused medical treatment&comma; but troopers detected signs of impairment&period;  Ordonez submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing but was placed under arrest after her performance&period;  Ordonez submitted to an evidentiary breath test with a result of 0&period;19 grams of alcohol per 210 ml of breath&period;  <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;"><em><strong>DUI-related Collision&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">SNOW HILL&comma; MD&period; Maryland State Police report that on June 29&comma; 2014&comma; at approximately 0247 hrs&comma; troopers responded to the area of 3323 Snow Hill Road for a reported single vehicle collision&period;  Upon the arrival of troopers it was determined <strong>Michael Cieslak<&sol;strong> of Washington DC was traveling on Snow Hill Road in a 2006 Mercedes when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle&period; The Mercedes left the roadway and struck a utility pole&period;  Cieslak was treated on scene&comma; but troopers noted evidence of impairment&period;  Cieslak failed field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest&period;  He was transported back to the Berlin Barrack&comma; and he agreed to take an evidentiary breath test yielding a result of 0&period;17 grams of alcohol per 210 ml of breath&period;  Any breath sample of 0&period;08 or above is deemed to be impaired in the State of Maryland&period; <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><em><strong><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">DUI-related Collision&colon;<&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">OCEAN CITY&comma; MD&period; &&num;8212&semi; On June 27&comma; 2014&comma; at approximately 1904 hrs&comma; troopers responded to the area of MD Route 90 and St&period; Martins Neck Road in Worcester County in reference to a two vehicle collision&period;  Through the investigation it was determined <strong>Ronald Wesche<&sol;strong> of Bishopville was traveling eastbound along MD Route 90 when he failed to maintain control of his 1997 Dodge pickup truck&period;  Wesche subsequently rear-ended a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz&period;  No injuries were reported&comma; however&comma; it was determined Wesche exhibited clues of impairment&period;  He was subsequently arrested for DUI&period;  Wesche refused to submit to an evidentiary breath test&period;  <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; left&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">BERLIN&comma; MD&period; &&num;8212&semi; Maryland State Police report that a Delaware man was packing heat when he was offered the benefits of performing a field sobriety test&comma; for his own safety&comma; after being stopped for having a headlight out on his Corvette&period; On 6&sol;14&sol;2014 at approximately 2342 hours&comma; Trooper Marshall was on patrol when he observed a 1976 red Chevy Stingray Corvette with an inoperative headlight&period;  A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle&comma; and the driver was identified by his Delaware driver’s license as <strong>Raymond M&period; Cook<&sol;strong> of Seaford&period;  Cook was asked to exit the vehicle in order to perform field sobriety tests after Tpr&period; Marshall observed signs of impairment&period;  Subsequently&comma; Cook was found to be wearing and carrying a loaded &period;38 caliber revolver on his hip&period;  Cook was immediately taken into custody&comma; and a further search of Cook’s vehicle revealed 7&period;80 grams of marijuana and a smoking device in the center console&period;<&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;"><em><strong>Wanted Subject Arrested&colon;  <&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">OCEAN PINES&comma; MD&period; &&num;8212&semi; Maryland State Police report that on 6&sol;10&sol;2104 at approximately 1300 hrs&comma; troopers in conjunction with federal and local authorities located and arrested <strong>Orion Christopher Conway<&sol;strong>&period;  Conway was wanted on several burglary charges committed in the Worcester County area&period;  Conway was found to be in the area of the Ocean Pines Library and its community pool but fled into the woods before being apprehended&period;  Support from the Maryland State Police Aviation Division was called for&comma; and MSP helicopter&comma; Trooper 4&comma; responded&period;  Soon thereafter Conway was located and arrested&period;<&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><em><strong><span style&equals;"font-family&colon; Tahoma&semi;">Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision&colon; <&sol;span><&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; larger&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; Tahoma&semi;"><span style&equals;"text-indent&colon; -2&period;5in&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;">On 6&sol;08&sol;2014 at approximately 0401 hrs&comma; troopers from the Berlin Barrack <&sol;span><&sol;span><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;">responded to a single vehicle collision that was reported to have occurred on US Route 50 west of Riddle Lane in Worcester County&period; When troopers arrived it was determined the vehicle had been occupied by the driver only who was ejected during the collision event&period;  The driver was identified as <strong>Ryan Young Hatton&comma;<&sol;strong> 22&comma; of Glenn Dale&comma; Prince George’s County&comma; Maryland&period;  Hatton was taken by ambulance to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin&comma; where he succumbed to his injuries&period;  Through the investigation it was determined Hatton was traveling westbound on US Route 50 west of Riddle Lane when he lost control of the 2000 Toyota he was driving&period;  The vehicle traveled through the median&comma; across the eastbound lanes of US Route 50 and struck a traffic signal support pole at the intersection for one of the entrances into Walmart&sol;Home Depot before coming to final rest&period;  Eastbound US Route 50 was shutdown for several hours during the investigation and debris cleanup&period;  Assisting at the scene was <strong>Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies&comma; Berlin Fire Department&comma; and SHA<&sol;strong>&period; <&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; small&semi;"><span style&equals;"font-family&colon;
