LANHAM, MD. — 07/02/2014  — The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle collision in Lanham.

The victim is 56-year-old Robert Edward Bailey, III, of Cambridge Park Court in Silver Spring.

On July 1, 2014, at about 10:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Greenbelt Road near Good Luck Road for a crash involving a motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Bailey was traveling westbound on Greenbelt Road when, for reasons which remain unclear, he failed to make a slight curve to the right and hit a curb. He then lost control and struck a guardrail.

Bailey died a short time later at a hospital. Anyone with information on this collision is asked to call the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 306-5640.
