DAYTON, MD. Police identify victim and suspect in Dayton homicide
Howard County police have confirmed the identities of a man fatally shot yesterday in Dayton and the suspect arrested in connection to the homicide.
Police were called to the property in the 4900 block of Ten Oaks Road around 3 p.m. May 23, for a report of shots fired. An adult male was found deceased in an outbuilding on the property. He has been identified as Rodolfo Miguel Cervantes, 31, of Hyattsville.
Police also have identified the man they believe is responsible for the homicide. He has been identified as Ismael Guerra Vasquez, 36, also of Hyattsville.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect were known acquaintances and that there was a brief confrontation between the two, which resulted in the victim being shot.
A witness provided police with a suspect vehicle description. A vehicle matching the description was subsequently located in the vicinity and the driver, later identified as Vasquez, was taken into custody.
He is charged with first-and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in commision of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing.
05/24/2014 — Howard County police report that they are investigating a homicide of a man found in an outbuilding on a property in Dayton.
Police were called to the property in the 4900 block of Ten Oaks Road around 3 p.m. May 23, for a report of shots fired.

A vehicle matching the description was subsequently located in the vicinity and the person police believe to be responsible for the shooting was taken into custody. Charges are pending. The suspect will be identified once charges are filed.
No other information was available at 1:30 am today. Investigation continues, say police.
