Upper Marlboro, MD — Maryland State Police report that they arrested an impaired driver, later identified as a Howard County Police Officer, who left the scene of a crash that injured another in Prince George’s County on Oct. 7, 2015. Howard County’s Police Chief announced afterwards that he has suspended the officer.
Dollar Tree, 3061 Plank Road, 9/5, 10:00 p.m. Two employees and one other male were leaving the business shortly after closing. As the manager was entering her vehicle, two unknown males ran toward her from the wood line. The manager locked herself in her vehicle and the suspects attempted to get into the vehicle. The two suspects then made the other two victims get on the ground and took a wallet, a backpack, and a bag of items purchased from the store.
NRP officers were called to the scene. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded shotgun with the safety off, shotgun ammunition and a spotlight.
Kurt Andrew Simmons, 29, of Centreville, was charged by NRP with having a loaded firearm in a vehicle, casting rays (jacklighting), hunting deer without a license, hunting out of season, deer hunting at night and hunting while intoxicated. Queen Anne’s County charged him with driving under the influence.
In no way am I excusing my horrible judgment in July but I am asking that you kindly remove my information as a tremendous favor to me.
