Maryland: State Agencies Threatened by Cyberattacks

One incident on the report involved the Maryland State Police in September. Last year, the police were bombarded with thousands of gun applications ahead of incoming stricter firearm laws. To reduce the massive backlog, volunteers from the departments of Health and Mental Hygiene, Transportation, Public Safety and Correctional Services, Human Resources and Juvenile Services offered to help out with data entry, according to a police press release.

Ocean City Trolley passengers get around from Berlin and Ocean Pines

Shore Transit has planned a new trolley route to help visitors and residents in the West Ocean City, Ocean Pines and Berlin area travel this summer.
Thanks to the support of Worcester County and the Worcester County Tourism Office, the Town of Berlin, the Ocean Pines Association, Ocean Downs Casino, Burley Oak Brewing Company and the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, The trolley is scheduled to operate from 10 am to 10 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day

Lightship 116 is one of the last extant lightships in the United has had few modifications during its service. Four generations of lightships were in use in the United States from 1820 to 1983, serving as an essential part of the system of aids to navigation that protected mariners and their ships by marking stations through a combination of light and sound.
Lightship 116 is a well-preserved example from the third generation of lightship design and from the vessel class of Lightship 100, whose most significant advance was the installation of a diesel-electric power plant.

Cove Point facility in Lusby has been importing liquefied natural gas for more than 30 years. Dominion acquired the facility in 2003 and plans to build a facility to export LNG. Capital News Service photo by Amanda Salvucci.

But others see the conversion as an environmental hazard that exposes all of Maryland to the potential risks of gas obtained through hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, and fear it could lead to use of the controversial gas-extraction method within the state.

GE Aviation account manager drilled company for expensive bits to fatten his Paypal; sentenced to slammer

Quinn began stealing tools from GE Aviation’s inventory no later than 2009 and resold the stolen tools over the Internet. Most of the stolen hardware consisted of high-speed carbide drill bits. Purchasers paid for the stolen tools by depositing funds into Quinn’s personal PayPal account. According to PayPal records, between 2009 and July 2013, Quinn realized more than $108,000 from sales of carbide drill bits. The cost to GE of the stolen tools was at least $200,000

It was no ordinary fin. That fin rose six feet out of the water and was making a bee line to the stern of our boat. I dove across the surging mass of fish into the cuddy cabin and grabbed my 12 gauge Remington stainless steel security pump shotgun that was loaded with pumpkin ball slugs. I also seized the Crown Royal bag of shells for additional ammo.

Ocean City cops practice with laser, nab bozo with pot and taser

On April 20, 2014, at approximately 2 a.m. Ofc. Laughlin was on patrol in the area of 30th Street and Coastal Highway when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Using LIDAR technology, he determined that the vehicle was traveling faster than the posted speed limit. Ofc. Laughlin stopped the vehicle and smelled marijuana coming from inside. During a search of the vehicle, officers located marijuana and a stun gun.
