The initial investigation into this incident had indicated that the victim, who owns the property, was inside one of the apartments cleaning up when the suspects approached and entered the apartment. The thugs asked her where the tenant was and that the tenant owed them money. One of the suspects then pointed a gun at her and demanded her purse. The suspects then took her purse and fled the location.

The suspect then fled from the room and began to run through the parking lot of the motel. Police say that the armed thief was then chased by several subjects who had witnessed the incident. The suspect then fired several shots from his gun towards his pursuers; however, none of them were struck as he clearly only knew how to steal a gun, not become proficient with it while firing backwards as he ran. “A large crowd began to form around our location and began to throw objects at police. Bricks, water bottles, bleach bottles, and cups. A signal 13 (officer needs assistance) was dropped on the location and more units responded to help disperse the crowd and help contain the crime scene,” said one officer in the police report.

“Tucker began to scream and carry on as if he was injured and or shot,” said the officer in the report.

Despite Stevens violently struggling with officers, police were successful in the safe rescue of Stevens from the residence.
