Coast Guard rescues sailboat captain and crew as Navy chopper from Bush assisted

Both helicopter crews arrived on scene at about 8:15 p.m. The Coast Guard helicopter crew hoisted the people and transported them to Air Station Elizabeth City in good condition. No injuries were reported.

Rescued were vessel owner Frank W. Rawley, 55, Douglas Rider, 58, Lorette Medwel, 55, and a 14-year-old male. The survivors were sailing from Beaufort to Pensacola.

Fire spread to house from shed; dog dead

The bulk of the fire was located in the rear portion of the house, including a detached shed which were well involved with fire. As firefighters battled to knock the fire down other firefighters were searching the structure for anyone still inside despite the intense heat and blinding smoke. Firefighters also extended hose lines to protect the houses on either side of the burning home from the radiant heat.

Both occupants had escaped the home safely prior to the fire departments arrival, however, a dog was found deceased inside the home.

The vehicle took the exit for Water Street at the Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro where it crashed into a tree in the wooded area along the access ramp that leads back to Maryland Rt. 4 north. The suspect fled the wreckage on foot. K-9 and a helicopter with FLIR were deployed in an effort to locate the suspect. After an extensive search the suspect was not located and his whereabouts and identity are unknown at this time. The PG County Police Department responded to assist with the search and assumed the crash investigation. Maryland State Police and Park Police assisted with the search also. There was a substantial amount of blood around the crash scene and blood drenched clothing was also located nearby indicating the suspect received substantial injury during the crash.

The accused was arrested without incident. While in custody, the accused complained of pain and was subsequently transported to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, located at 2300 Opitz Blvd, for evaluation. While at the hospital, the suspect accessed a private hallway from her room and was able to escape from the facility.

As officers approached the Honda Pilot, gunfire came from the vehicle, striking an officer. Officers then returned fire on the vehicle. The driver, an adult white male who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver was found to have been armed with a handgun and other weapons.

The preliminary investigation reveals Williams went to the victim’s home this morning. The victim and suspect got into an argument which escalated into the stabbing. The victim and suspect had been in a romantic relationship. Williams was still in the home when officers arrived. She is charged with second degree murder and first degree assault.

Pirate Poachers Rounded Up Again – Crisfield Criminals cleaning out oyster sanctuaries nabbed by DNR Cops

TANGIER SOUND, MD. — Natural Resources Police report that eight men in Somerset, Allegany and Queen Anne’s County were charged this week by Maryland Natural Resources Police officers with oyster poaching and hunting violations.

In Somerset County, five watermen were cited Thursday morning for illegally harvesting oysters from protected state waters.
