Prince Georges Police report that Edwards joined the ranks of the recently dead on May 30, 2015, at about 5:00 pm. As the pursuit continued east on Route 460 near the Town of Windsor, the fleeing felon Futrell crashed into an Acura SUV, abandon his vehicle, fleeing on foot. Futrell fled to a nearby wrecker company where he stole a tow truck. Troopers terminated the pursuit to render assistance to the driver and passenger of the Acura SUV.
The initial investigation into the incident has indicated that there had been a fight on the parking lot. During the fight, an unknown suspect opened fire into the crowd, striking the victim multiple times in the mid-body. The victim then got into a car and fled the scene.
The Sheriff identified the teacher, Kelly Riddle, 32, of Salisbury, who allegedly sent frequent text messages to the juvenile that were interpreted as expressing love and affection. During the investigation it was revealed that the messaging had been ongoing for over eleven months between the teacher and student.
During the course of the investigation, investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division learned that Mills began having sexual intercourse with a juvenile during the summer of 2014. In addition, it was learned that Mills was also having sexual intercourse with an additional juvenile starting in March 2015.
