OXON HILL, MD. — As PG County continues its march to glory for the Maryland Murder Olympics, striving to close the gap with the killing fields of the City of Baltimore, a young man who graduated from college with a degree in music education and returned to his hometown to mentor the marching band at Oxon Hill High School was killed in a volley of gunfire.

Shahim Body killed in Oxon Hill June 6, 2017

Prince Georges Police report that the victim has been identified as Shahim Body.

Officers were called to the 5200 block of Leverett Street about 8:40 p.m. on June 6, 2017, for a report of a shooting, Prince George’s County Police said. When they arrived, they found Body with wounds suffered in a barrage of gunfire.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died hours later.

Police said Body was an Oxon Hill resident who lived on Livingston Road in Oxon Hill, Md.

They do not know if Body was the intended target.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
