Delaware State Police say booze and speed propelled Edward Hudson to his death in crash

DOVER, DEL. – Booze in a fatal cruise is being investigated along with speed, in a wreck which took the life of a Dover resident on April 2, 2016, reports the Delaware State Police.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred last night north of Dover.

The initial investigation has determined the crash occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m. on, Saturday, April 2, 2016, as Edward D. Hudson, 44 of Dover, was operating a 2001 Ford Taurus eastbound on West Denny’s Road west of Kenton Road. A 2003 Ford Focus operated by Taylor C. Tucker, 19 of Hartley, Del., was traveling westbound on West Denny’s Road approaching the Ford Taurus. The Ford Taurus entered a left curve and drove off the south edge of the roadway and started to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction and slid broadside into the west bound lane in front of the approaching vehicle. The Focus struck the Taurus in the right passenger door with its front bumper and after impact, both vehicles came to rest in the west bound lane.

Edward D. Hudson, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was transported by EMS to Kent General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigative results revealed that speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in this collision on the part of Edward D. Hudson.

Taylor C. Tucker was properly restrained. She was transported from the crash scene by ambulance to the Kent General Hospital where she was treated and released with minor injuries.

West Denny’s Road in the area of the crash was closed for approximately 3.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
