<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">LEXINGTON PARK, MD. &#8212; St. Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron has seen a spike in street crime in Lexington Park with armed robberies taking place in broad daylight.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On December 6, 2015, at approximately 3:02 p.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Canopy Liquors in Lexington Park, about a subject reporting they had been shot.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Upon arrival, deputies located the victim<em>, <strong>Kevin Jerome Chase, age 45</strong>,</em> of 21262 Joe Baker Village, Lexington Park, Md., outside of Canopy Liquors displaying a gunshot wound to the upper body. The subject was transported to Washington Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has assumed the investigation.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Charges against Chase placed by St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Cole for possession of an open container of alcohol were <strong>dropped on Sept. 24, 2015, by St. Mary’s County States Attorney Richard Fritz. </strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>T</strong>he Sheriff’s Department operates a Hooker and Hobo Patrol in Lexington Park to sweep the streets of bums and prostitutes with Canopy Liquors a hot spot of winos hanging out.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On July 3, 2015, Chase was charged by Deputy Jean Vezzosi with theft of a credit card and the <strong>charges were dropped by Fritz</strong> on Sept. 24, 2015.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On June 23, 2015, Chase was charged by Maryland State Trooper Jackson with theft and on Aug. 27, </span>2015<span style="font-size: 12pt;">, the <strong>charges were dropped by Fritz</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On August 8, 2014, Deputy Al Beishline assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspect Francis Stefan Miles, 50, of Lexington Park, consuming an alcoholic beverage in the parking lot adjacent to Canopy Liquors on Great Mills Road. Miles was charged with the violation by Criminal Citation.</span></p>

Alvin Beishline and in District Court on July 30, </span>2015<span style="font-size: 12pt;">, he <strong>was found guilty</strong> and fined $42.50 and was represented by taxpayer provided attorney Ryan Posey.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On May 5, 2013, Chase was charged with burglary by Dep. Trevor Teague. According to court records, <strong>Fritz dropped the charge</strong> on Aug. 22, 2013. A charge of trespassing earned Chase three days in jail.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Chase was charged with assault and theft on Oct. 25, </span>2011<span style="font-size: 12pt;">, by Maryland State Trooper Michael Moore. In the face of a vigorous defense by public defenders Troy Hansen and Reid Owen, <strong>Fritz dropped the charges </strong>on April 26, 2012.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Charged with drug distribution in a Circuit Court Indictment on Aug. 20, 2008, from an investigation and charges by St. Mary’s Narco Deputies Phil Joseph and Vyvyan A. Walker, Chase was <strong>found guilty in a plea deal with Fritz</strong> on Feb. 6, 2009 and was sentenced to 3 years in prison.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Chase was charged with two counts of assault on June 20, </span>2008<span style="font-size: 12pt;">, by Trooper Nims. <strong>The charges were dropped by Fritz </strong>on July 17, 2008.</span></p>
