Northeast District

Non-fatal shooting Oct. 29, 2015

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. This evening at approximately 8:00 pm, officers were called to the 5400 block of Moores Run Drive for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries. Jerrod Battle Charged with Murder

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. –  Baltimore Police reports that shortly after midnight on the morning of October 15, 2015, Terrance Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia was shot and killed in the 6600 block of Harford Road, outside of Valentino’s Restaurant. Homicide detectives assumed the investigation and quickly developed information that would lead to the identity of a suspect.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested 29-year-old Jerrod Battle of the 3400 block of Dolfield Avenue. Battle was arrested at a TGIF Restaurant in Baltimore County.

Jerrod Battle is now at Central Booking where he is on a no-bail status and awaiting trial.

Baltimore City Police identified the following homicides; the victims have been identified as:

10/20/2015 @ 1100 Poplar Grove Street

David Brown (35) of the 1000 block of Poplar Grove Street

10/21/2015 @ 3600 Pulaski Highway

Maurice Swilling (24) of the 3300 block of Elmley Avenue

10/22/2015 @ 1400 Gorsuch Avenue

Daniel Blackston (31) of the 1400 block of Gorsuch Avenue

10/22/2015 @ 2000 McKean Avenue

Andrew Mack (31) of the 1300 block of Liriope Court

The Walking Wounded of Baltimore’s Armed Hoodlums

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — Baltimore Police report that on October 22, 2015, at approximately 10:00 p.m. Southern District patrol units responded to the 1200 block of Bayard for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a 22-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the thigh.

The victim was transported by medics to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

A short time later at approximately 10:10 p.m. Central District patrol units responded to an area hospital for a report of a walk-in shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 36-year-old male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder and leg.

Investigations revealed that the victim was walking Northbound on Caroline Street between Fayette and Orleans Street, when he was approached by two unknown males armed with handguns. The victim attempted to run northbound when he was shot in the leg and shoulder.

Two shot; one dead

Western District

On October 22, 2015, at approximately 6:20 p.m. Western District Patrol Units responded to the 2000 block of McKean for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival to the location, officers located the first victim, a 32-year-old male and a 24-year-old female, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims were both transported to area hospitals. The female victim did receive life-threatening injuries, and the male victim was pronounced deceased by doctors.

Wounded in the Wing; Recipient of Gunfire Walked into Sinai

Northwest District

On October 22, 2015, at approximately 6:45 p.m. Northern District officers were called to Sinai Hospital for a report of a walk-in shooting the victim.

Upon arrival to the location, officers met with the victim, a 24-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

Investigations revealed that the victim was shot while in the 3900 block of Fairfax Road by an unknown suspect.

Handgun Violation

On October 21, 2015, SWAT Officers were conducting an investigation in the 1900 block of Eagle Street. As a result of that investigation, 30-year-old Abdul Aziz of the 1400 block of Gorsuch Avenue was arrested. Aziz was charged with a handgun violation.

Seized from Aziz was a Valor Corp .25 cal handgun that was loaded with seven rounds and a small amount of marijuana. All seized property was submitted as evidence. Aziz was transported to Central Booking where he is awaiting his bail hearing.

Two shot in Double-Bullet Ballet

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — On October 21, 2015, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Southern District officers responded to the 400 block of South Vincent Street for a double shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult males who were suffering from non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to area hospitals and were expected to recover.

Detectives have no information regarding a suspect or motive but are looking to stop and identify the occupants of an older model gold Chrysler 300. Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call detectives at (410) 396-2499 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — Baltimore Police report that on October 21, 2015, at approximately 10:20 am, officers responded to the 3600 block of Pulaski Hwy for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers located a male who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital for treatment. Despite all medical lifesaving efforts, the victim died at the hospital. Western District Shooting

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. – Police report that on October 20, 2015, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Western District patrol units responded to the 1800 block of North Fulton Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Once at the location, officers located the victim, a 24-year-old woman, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

Witnesses stated that the victim was engaged in a dispute with an adult male before the victim was shot.

UPDATE Southwest District Shooting

On October 20, 2015, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Southwest District patrol units responded to the 1100 block of Poplar Grove for a report of a shooting.

Once at the location, an officer located the victim, a 35-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to the legs and back.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Southwest District Shooting

On October 20, 2015, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Southwest District patrol units responded to the 1100 block of Poplar Grove for a report of a shooting.

Once at the location, an officer located the victim, a 35-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to the legs and back.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Southern District Shooting

On October 20, 2015, at approximately 5:45 p.M, Southern District patrol units responded to the 1300 block of Herkimer Street for a report of a shooting.

Once officers arrived at the location, they located the victim, a 51-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Eastern District Shooting

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — Police say that on October 20, 2015, at approximately 8:10 a.m., Eastern District patrol units responded to the 1500 block of North Kenwood Avenue for a report of a shooting.

When police arrived at Kenwood Avenue, they found a 48-year-old male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Eastern District detectives are investigating this shooting incident.

As a result of the initial investigation, detectives learned that the victim was approached by two men, armed with handguns and demanding money. The victim was shot when he attempted to flee from the suspects.

Both suspects left the area on foot, their direction of travel is unknown.

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — Baltimore City Police report that in the matter of October 12, 2015, homicide that took place in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street, 18-year-old Wayne Smith of the 1400 block of Union Avenue has been Arrested and charged with 1st-degree murder. At that time, Smith allegedly shot 28-year-old Avery Kelly of the 1700 block of Darley Avenue.

Homicide detectives say that they could not have solved this murder, were it not for members of the community who provided information that led to this arrest.

Western District Shooting

On October 19, 2015, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Western district patrol units responded to the 1000 block of West Fayette Street for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 17-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Tusing charged with attempted murder in Jimmy’s Seafood stabbing

DUNDALK, MD. — Baltimore Police report that in the case of the multiple stabbing that took place at Jimmy’s Seafood Restaurant on Holabird Avenue on October 9, 2015, 30 year old Kevin Tusing has been arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and multiple counts of assault.

Tusing was arrested on October 16, 2015, in Dundalk, Maryland by members of our Warrant Apprehension Task Force. Tusing is currently being held, without bail at Central Booking.

Non-Fatal Shooting

On October 17, 2015, at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers responded to Bon Secours Hospital for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old male suffer from a gunshot wound to the ankle. That victim is expected to recover.

According to the victim, he was at Payson Street and Wilkens Avenue when an unknown suspect attempted to rob him and then shot him.

Southern District detectives have no further information on the suspects and are asking anyone with information to call Metro Crime Stopper at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

Southwestern District

Non-Fatal Shooting

On October 18, 2015, at approximately 2:50 a.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of Edmondson Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival the officers located a 57-year-old man suffer from multiple gunshot wounds to his right leg. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives have no suspects or motives in this case and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP

Homicide Victim Identified

About the murder that occurred on October 17, 2015, in the 1200 block of N Decker Street, the victim has been identified as 32-year-old Kelavin Weaver of the 500 block of N Decker Street.

Homicide detectives are still looking for suspect information and a motive. Anyone with information regarding this murder is asked to call them at (410) 396-2100.

 

Northeastern District – Non-Fatal Shooting

On October 17, 2015, at 4:05 a.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Moravia Road for a report of a shooting. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a 49-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side. That victim was taken to an area hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Two ran from shooting scene after killing one and wounding four

About October 2, 2015, shooting in the 5400 block of Reisterstown Road, at the Hilltop Shopping Center, Homicide detectives are looking to identify the two individuals seen running through this alley in the area Price Avenue.

As a result of this shooting, 71-year-old James Gaylord was killed, and four other people were shot.

At this, they are to be considered as persons of interest.

10/15/2015 1300 Orleans Street Shooting occurred in the 700 block of Eden Street

Two found with multiple bullet wounds in wreck; one dead, one – who knows!

Eastern District

This afternoon at approximately 3:30 pm, officers were called to the 1200 block of Orleans Street for a report of a car accident. When officers arrived, they found three vehicles involved in a collision. One of the vehicles involved was a pickup truck. Officers found two adult males inside of this vehicle who appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. One of the victims died from his injuries. At last check, the second victim was being treated for his injuries at the hospital. The drivers of the other two vehicles involved in the collision were not injured.

Investigators believe the two shooting victims were shot at another location and then drove to the 1200 block of Orleans Street where the collision occurred. The exact location of the shooting is still unknown. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and were asking anyone with information to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

 

Michael Daye charged with murder of nine-year-old child

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — Baltimore Police report that on October 14, 2015, Baltimore Police detectives arrested 26-year-old Michael Daye of the 3200 block of Ellerslie Avenue in connection with the shooting of a nine-year-old girl. The shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Old York Road on Sunday, October 4, 2015.

During the investigation and with the assistance of the community, detectives learned that Daye was the driver of the vehicle which facilitated the shooting. Under the code of the law, his participation in this shooting makes Daye just as culpable as the shooter.

Michael Daye has been charged with 1st and 2nd degree attempted murder, 1st and 2nd-degree assault, and various handgun violations. Daye is currently in Central Booking where he awaits his bail hearing.

Gunshot to chest leaves victim mortally wounded

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. – On October 12, 2015, at approximately 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Locust Street for a report of a shooting.

Once on the scene, they located a 44-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he is currently in serious condition.

District Detective Units are investigating this shooting and have no suspects or motives.

Murder Victim Was Armed but Not a Good Shot

About the homicide that occurred in the 2100 block of North Pulaski Street, the victim was found to be holding a handgun at the time he was shot.

Man Dead; Shot in Head

Western District

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — POLICE REPORT: On October 12, 2015, at approximately 7:00 p.m., an adult male who looked to be in his 20’s was found in the 2100 block of North Pulaski Street at Clifton Avenue, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The unidentified victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Homicide detectives were called and are now investigating this matter. As of yet, no suspects or motives have been identified.

Southern District

Also on October 12, 2015, at 8:10 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street for a report of a shooting.

Once on the scene officers located an adult male who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

That victim was transported to an area hospital and is critical condition.

Tabitha Holtman shot dead in the street; black male sought

Southern District

BALTIMORE CITY, MD. — Baltimore Police report that on October 11, 2015, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Southern District officers responded to the 1600 block of Church Street for a double shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located 25-year-old Tabitha Holtman of the 4900 block of Brookwood Road lying in the middle of the street, suffering from multiple gunshots wounds to the back. Medics arrived and pronounced Holtman dead on the scene. Additionally, a 17-year-old male was found suffering from a graze wound and was treated and released at an area hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that both victims were walking in the 1600 block of Church Street when they heard several gunshots coming from behind them. Both victims began to run. Witnesses only stated that a black male was seen shooting at the victims.

Shot in the back

Southern District

On October 12, 2015, at 2:15 a.m., Southern District officers responded to the 1800 block of McHenry Street for a report of discharging.

Upon arrival, and after an area canvass, officers located a 29-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the back in the 200 block of S Fulton Avenue. That victim was transported to an area hospital where he is in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation reveals the victim was in the 1800 block of McHenry Street when shots rang out. He ran to the 200 block of S Fulton Avenue when he realized he had been shot.
