<p><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Southern-Maryland-Police-Beat.jpg"><img class="alignleft wp-image-3393 size-medium" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Southern-Maryland-Police-Beat-300x105.jpg" alt="Southern Maryland Police Beat" width="300" height="105" /></a>MECHANICSVILLE<strong>, MD</strong> (Oct. 11, 2014) &#8212; Maryland State Police report that on July 24, 2014, investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region were contacted by the Metropolitan Police Department and were requested to assist with an ongoing investigation.</p>
<p>A search and seizure warrant was executed on the Mechanicsville residence of <strong>Norman Jim Goedecke</strong>, 46. Police say that five regulated firearms were located and seized from the residence. During the investigation, it was learned that Goedecke was disqualified from being in possession of regulated firearms.</p>
<p>On October 2, 2014 investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division and the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office presented this investigation to the <strong>St. Mary’s County Grand Jury</strong>. A five Count Indictment was handed down from the Grand Jury, charging Goedecke with being in possession of a regulated firearm.</p>
<p>On October 6, 2014, members from the Maryland State Police Warrant Apprehension Team (MSAT) located and arrested <strong>Norman Goedecke</strong> at his residence in Mechanicville, St. Mary’s County, MD without incident. Goedecke was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.</p>
<p>On October 2, 2014 investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division and the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office presented this investigation to the St. Mary’s County Grand Jury. A five County Indictment was handed down from the Grand Jury, charging Goedecke with being in possession of a regulated firearm.</p>
<p>On October 6, 2014, members from the Maryland State Police Warrant Apprehension Team (MSAT) located and arrested Norman Goedecke at his residence in Mechanicville, St. Mary’s County, MD without incident. Goedecke was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.</p>
<p>On Feb. 21, 2002, according to Maryland court records, Goedecke entered a guilty plea in Charles County Circuit Court to a 1998 indictment on a charge of second degree assault and was sentenced to no time in prison. Court records state that “Commute the balance of sentence and close case.”</p>
<p>On April 23, 2009, an indictment was issued by the <strong>Grand Jury for St. Mary’s County</strong> for charges of assault and reckless endangerment. On Nov. 20, 2009, Goedecke entered an Alford Plea for reckless endangerment, which acknowledged that the prosecution likely would be able to convict him of the charges in exchange for a sentence of two years in prison.</p>
<p>On March 3, 2009, Goedecke entered a guilty plea to a charge of DWI and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and allowed work release by the <strong>Calvert County District Court</strong>, with a fine of $500 ordered to be paid within six months of his release from jail.</p>
<p>On June 4, 2001, an injunction sought by the St. Mary’s County Commissioners on behalf of Animal Control was ordered by <strong>St. Mary’s Circuit Court Judge Marvin Kaminetz</strong>, ordering Goedecke to surrender to the dog catcher a dog named “Zeus” in order to avoid incarceration.</p>
<p>Goedecke also amassed several drug convictions in his career. Included among his many defense attorneys was <strong>St. Mary’s County Circuit Court Judge David Densford</strong> who got him off of one charge of assault in 2003.</p>
