Arson Arrest

FREDERICK, MD. — Frederick Police report that on 09-28-2014 at approximately 1840 hours, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a reported Destruction of Property in Progress call at the homeless camp off of E. South St. Upon their arrival, officers found a tent fully engulfed in flames and called for additional assistance from the Fire Department.

Further investigation revealed that two subjects became involved in an argument prior to the fire. Following the argument, the suspect advised he was going to burn the victim’s belongings. The suspect then walked to the victim’s tent and using a lighter, proceeded to set fire to the victim’s tent and all of the victim’s belongings.

The victim and a witness positively identified the suspect who was located a short distance away in a local park and arrested without incident. The suspect was identified as the below listed arrestee and transported to Frederick County Central Booking where he was charged as listed. At the time of this writing, the suspect is awaiting a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

Charges: Arson in the second degree
Malicious burning of personal property in the second degree
Threat of Arson
Malicious Destruction of Property
