Delaware State Police Beat / Douglas Walker charged with robbery of Wells Fargo Bank
The tellers complied turning over an undisclosed amount of money to him.
WILMINGTON, DEL. – The Delaware State Police report that they have arrested a Wilmington man and charged him in connection with the robbery of a Wilmington area bank that occurred on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at approximately 9:45 a.m.
Police say that a male suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 3215 Old Capital Trail, Wilmington. The investigation revealed that an unknown white male entered the bank wearing a disguise and demanded money from the tellers. The tellers complied turning over an undisclosed amount of money to him. After the robbery, the suspect was observed fleeing in a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee onto Kirkwood Highway in an unknown direction. There were no injuries.
As the investigation continued detectives located the suspect vehicle on February 15, 2018, in the parking lot of a motel in Smyrna. The next day the suspect was seen leaving the motel and was stopped by troopers. The suspect was identified as Douglas W. Walker, 39 of Wilmington. After obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle evidence linking him to the robbery was located inside the vehicle.
Douglas W. Walker was transported to Troop 2 and was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and two counts of Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $24,000.00 cash bond.
