<h2>Maryland State Police Beat / Manhunt underway for Lamount Maurice Potter after wild ride into cruiser’s side</h2>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">PRINCESS ANNE, MD.– Lamount Maurice Potter Jr. (yes, his first name is not Lamont, a la Sanford &; Son, it is Lamount, which says a lot about how some folks spell when naming a baby) is on a roll. Police say he used a Dodge Ram truck and rammed a Maryland State Police and pulled a demo derby move by pushing the police car out of his way and drove through a ditch to get back on US 13 to effect his escape. This act of crazy wheeling at the expense of the taxpayers of Maryland came on the heels of his accomplice in crime smashing the same vehicle into another State Police cruiser by backing into it before turning over the helm to Potter.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Maryland State Police report the following details of how they are searching for Potter, who is wanted for, among other charges, ramming the aforementioned police vehicles.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">At about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team and MSP Gang Enforcement Unit were attempting to apprehend Lamount Maurice Potter Jr., 21, of 325 W. Chesapeake Ave., Crisfield, Md., who was wanted on an outstanding violation of probation warrant for possession with intent to distribute narcotics. Investigators attempted a traffic stop on a 2017 Ram 2500 pickup truck in the area of McCain Drive and College Backbone Road in Princess Anne, Maryland.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Potter was originally a passenger in the truck, which was being operated by Lashae Caprice Smith. According to investigators, Smith initially attempted to drive around several police vehicles to avoid being stopped by police. Smith then reversed the truck and intentionally struck a police vehicle parked behind it.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Smith then got out of the vehicle – it is unclear whether she was pushed or got out voluntarily – and Potter moved over into the driver’s seat where he accelerated the truck and deliberately rammed another police vehicle on the front driver’s side, disabling the police car. Potter then accelerated through the police vehicle, pushing it forward, before striking a UMES road sign and driving through a ditch to escape police capture.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Potter then drove northbound on Route 13 before abandoning the vehicle in the area of Route 13 and South Boulevard in Salisbury approximately 15 minutes later. The suspect then ran away from the scene.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">A Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit arrived on scene to attempt a K-9 track, which was met with negative results. MSP Aviation responded to assist with the search for Potter, which also was met with negative results. At this time, police are still attempting to locate Potter.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">No police personnel or civilians were injured during this incident. If anyone should see Potter, or have information regarding his whereabouts, you should contact police immediately.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Potter was stopped on Oct. 16, 2017, by Maryland State Trooper Nastvogel on Crisfield Marion Road for failing to notify the owner of property damaged in a collision.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Charged by Crisfield Police on Sept. 14, 2017, with attempting to elude a police officer by failing to stop, Potter failed to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2017.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Potter was indicted for felony distribution of drugs on July 14, 2017, by the Somerset County Circuit Court Grand Jury. Naturally, he won’t use any of his alleged drug dealing funds to pay for a lawyer as a taxpayer-provided free attorney, Jennifer Marie Turnbull, is representing him.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On a felony distribution charge placed against Potter on July 5, 2017, in Somerset County Circuit Court, a $50,000 bond was posted to let Potter beat feet once again. A trial set for Oct. 24, 2017, was canceled due to the trial being vacated. The bond was released when the Somerset County States Attorney dropped the charges.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">A dozen traffic charges were lodged against Potter when he was stopped on Crisfield Highway at Kingston Lane by Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputy Daum. Dep. Daum stopped Potter on Oct. 28, 2016. With another free attorney paid for by taxpayers, a jury trial was requested.</span></p>
