DWI HIT PARADE /  Friday night booze-cruisers found Tyaskin crawling with cops

FRUITLAND, MD. — The Maryland State Police report that efforts to rid highways in Wicomico County, Md., were successful in a few short hours, in taking three drivers believed to be driving while impaired off the road.

Police report that on July 15, 2017, at approximately 7:00 P.M., the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack along with the Wicomico Co. Sheriff’s Office, Fruitland Police Dept., MD Natural Resource Police and the MSP mobile breath testing DUI enforcement truck, participated in a DUI checkpoint on Nanticoke Rd, Tyaskin, MD.

This location was determined due to the amount of DUI related collisions in the area.  As a result of the checkpoint, 308 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint which resulted in 1 subject apprehended for DUI and 2 subjects apprehended for possessing a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.  There were no DUI related crashes reported during or after the checkpoint.

After the checkpoint concluded, units remained on patrol for DUI saturation, stopping 38 vehicles resulting in 2 additional DUI arrests and 1 arrest for possessing a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.  The above efforts resulted in the issuance of 19 citations, 31 warnings, and 1 SERO as well.
