Baltimore Police reports popular chef Michael Bates shot dead by armed robbers after being ordered to raise his hands
BALTIMORE, MD. — Baltimore City Police report that on September 21, 2016, at approximately 2:37 a.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 4600 block of Pen Lucy Road for a report of a shooting.
Upon officers arrival, they located the victim, a 46-year-old male suffering a gunshot wound to the neck.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where despite doctors efforts, he died.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was approached by three suspects armed with guns. The suspects announced a robbery to the victim. Although the victim complied by putting his hands in the air, one of the suspects still shot him, hitting him in the neck.

The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Michael Bates (B/M) of the 4600 block of Pen Lucy Road.
