NO JOKE for SLASHER
Three guys walk into a shopping center with one knife; one guy leaves in a meat wagon; another is flown out on a chopper; that left Eric Mendez-Cinque in the slammer for attempted murder
FREDERICK, MD. Frederick Police reports that on 12/02/2015 at approximately 4:41 PM Frederick Police officers responded to a reported stabbing at the Rockledge Plaza Shopping Center in Frederick, MD.
As Frederick Police Officers arrived on the scene, they located two male victims suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. One victim was transported to Meritus Medical Center for the treatment of his injuries. The other suspect was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital for lifesaving efforts. After a surgical procedure, this victim was later transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. At the time of this release, both victims remain hospitalized in critical condition. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Det. Kevin Forrest is the lead investigator in this case.
A portion of Rockledge Plaza was closed off as the crime scene Wednesday evening. Through investigative efforts, including interviews, evidence collection, and surveillance review Detective Forrest was able to identify quickly the suspect in this case as Eric Alejandro Mendez-Cinque of Frederick, MD.
Police say that their investigation revealed both the victims and suspect were known to one another before the assault occurring. The two groups encountered one another in the Rockledge Plaza shopping center, and a fight occurred.
During this fight, police say that Mendez-Cinque had a knife and stabbed the two victims. After the stabbing had occurred Mendez-Cinque fled from the scene. Frederick Police Officers were able to locate Mendez-Cinque in Hillcrest Park and took Mendez-Cinque into custody without further incident. Mendez-Cinque was later transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the shopping center to identify other suspects and or witnesses. The Frederick Police Department believes there were additional witnesses to this incident who could provide valuable information to police about this event.
