<p>UPPER MARLBORO, MD. &#8212; Prince Georges County Police have locked up the sometime boyfriend and part-time yard worker of the murdered Amanda Jones and charged him with her slaying after he allegedly broke into her home and waited to kill her.</p>
<p>Police say that on October 22, 2015, at this point in the investigation, evidence leads detectives to believe Jones was killed approximately twenty-five minutes before an acquaintance called Public Safety Communications expressing concern about Jones on Monday night.</p>
<p>Jones was found stabbed in her upper body on Tuesday morning. Detectives are working to determine the weapon used in this homicide.</p>
<p>The suspect is 56-year-old Mitchell Jerome Cole, a convicted burglar, of 3750 A Acquinsickle Place in White Plains, MD. He&#8217;s charged with first-degree murder.</p>
<p>On October 20, 2015, at about 10:25 am, a family member called 911 after finding Jones suffering from trauma in her home in located at 911 Andean Goose Way. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Ironically, it was a call to 911 about fears that Jones may be in trouble brought police to her home located at 911 Andean Goose Way.</p>
<p>Cole and Jones had previously been in a relationship. The motive for the murder is under investigation. Cole is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.</p>

<p>A peace order against Cole was granted by the District Court for Prince George’s County on Nov. 26, 2014 and was valid through May 26, 2015.</p>
<p>Cole had sought a judgement against Jones for $10,000 on April 1, 2013 and on Sept. 25, 2013, a District Court Judge in Prince Georges had awarded him $2,500.</p>
<p>When Cole was ticketed in Cecil County, Md., on Feb. 6, 2013, for exceeding the legal axle weight for a vehicle on I-95, his address at the time was listed as the home of Jones.</p>
<p>Charged with multiple counts of robbery and burglary on Sept. 29, 2011, Cole was found guilty in Prince Georges County Circuit Court of burglary on Feb. 6, 2012. Given the lenient treatment of burglars in the Maryland Court system, it should not be a surprise that Cole was sentenced to three years in prison but Judge Lamasney suspended all but 30 days with credit given for time served, which means that Cole walked out of the court that day a free man.</p>
<p>This plea deal was arranged by Prince Georges States Attorney Angela Alsobrooks, who were she a Major League Baseball pitcher, would be fired for allowing so many walks.</p>
<p>His burglar rap included supervised probation for five years.</p>
