Nottoway County- A Crewe man was killed Saturday afternoon (April 11) in a two vehicle crash in Nottoway County. The crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 49 and Route 630 (Melody Lane).
Virginia State Police Trooper J. D. Moses investigated the crash.
A 2010 Dodge Charger was traveling west on Route 630 when it approached the stop sign and made a left onto Route 49 into the path of a 1985 Honda motorcycle that was traveling north on Route 49, causing the motorcycle to strike the Dodge, the driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the bike.
The driver of the 1985 Honda motorcycle, Pierre L. Harris Jr., 35, of Crewe, Virginia died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. The driver of the 2010 Dodge Charger, Bernard Wilkerson, 70, of Blackstone, Virginia was not injured in the crash, he was wearing a seatbelt. He was charged with reckless driving.
Police say that speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
