Fairfax Police fires kiddie-porn cop
FAIRFAX, VA. — A Fairfax County police officer was relieved of duty on Thursday, April 9, as a result of a criminal investigation involving child pornography.
Detectives within the Major Crimes Division’s Child Exploitation Unit were contacted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and were provided a CyberTip, received through a blogging and social media networking site. The tip alleged that child pornography had been uploaded through its servers and it was determined that the location of the upload came from a residence within Fairfax County.
Detectives immediately began their investigation on Monday, April 6, and on Wednesday April 8, determined the residence was owned by the Fairfax County police officer.
The officer has 15 years of service with Fairfax County Police and was assigned to Police Headquarters, operating in an administrative capacity, prior to being relieved of duty.
The criminal investigation is ongoing. An administrative investigation will also be completed regarding this matter. Additional information will be provided following any arrests.
