Virginia State Police BeatRUTHER GLEN MAN KILLED IN CAR CRASH

Caroline County- A Ruther Glen man was killed Friday (April 3) in a single vehicle crash in Caroline County. The crash occurred at 1:52 a.m. on Route 30 (Dawn Blvd.), 40 feet east of Stephen Circle.

Virginia State Police Trooper S. G. Kolodzinski investigated the crash.

A 1999 Nissan pickup was traveling west on Route 30 when it ran off the road right, overcorrected, ran off the road to the left, overturning several times and struck a tree.

The driver (single occupant) of the 1999 Nissan, Phillip D. Johnson, Jr., 28, of Ruther Glen, Va., died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Speed is being considered a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

 

Motorist failed to yield to motorcyclist who attempted to avoid collision and died

NORFOLK, VA. — On April 2, 2015, Virginia State Police investigated a two vehicle accident which resulted in a fatality.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:52 a.m., on I-64 westbound at the 276 mile marker in the City of Norfolk.

A 1993 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on Interstate 64, when an unknown vehicle approached from the on-ramp. The driver of the motorcycle, Shawn T. Wallace, attempted to avoid the vehicle, and laid the motorcycle down, at which point the driver was ejected from the motorcycle.

Upon being ejected, Mr. Wallace was struck by a 2003 Ford Taurus, causing life threatening injuries.

Mr. Wallace was transported to Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor an notification has been made.

Fatal: Mr. Shawn Thomas Wallace, 30 YOA, of the 3000 block of Lusk Street, Virginia Beach, VA. Driving a 1993 Honda motorcycle.

Vehicle #2: 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by, Mireya Ester Luke, 50 YOA, of the 900 block of Jeremy Court, Virginia Beach, VA.
