Prince William Police Beat: Man nearly beat woman to death with metal rod; Potomac Mills Mall scene of assault on clerk as thief made getaway from Saks Fifth Ave.

Prince William County Police BeatPrince William County Police report the following incidents and arrests:

Strong Armed Robbery – On December 8th at 6:30PM, officers responded to the Saks Fifth Ave in Potomac Mills Mall located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shoplifting. Officers arrived at the business and were informed by an employee with loss prevention that an unknown man entered the store, took a pair of shoes and attempted to leave the store without paying. As the employee went to detain the suspect, the man assaulted the employee and fled in a vehicle. No injuries were reported. Officers searched the area and did not locate the suspect.

Suspect Description:

Black male, between 20 & 30 years of age with a medium build, medium complexion and tattoos on his chest and neck

Last seen wearing a black jacket, black shirt, black pants and a black cap with white stripes

Man nearly beat woman to death with metal rod

Woodbridge, Va. – On December 7th at 2:40PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 3200 block of Ridge View Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a domestic assault. A caller in the same building reported to police that screaming could be heard from a neighboring apartment. Officers arrived at the apartment and identified both parties involved in the altercation.

The victim, a 30 year old woman of Woodbridge, was immediately transported to an area hospital with significant injuries. The investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, a known acquaintance.

The encounter escalated physically when the accused retrieved a metal rod and repeatedly struck the victim in the head. The victim attempted to leave the apartment multiple times but was subsequently restrained by the accused.

At one point, the accused used the metal rod to restrict the victim’s breathing. The accused was at the residence when officers arrived and was detained without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Arrested on December 7th:

Bradley Van BARRINGTON, 52, of the 3200 block of Ridge View Ct in Woodbridge

Charged with aggravated malicious wounding, abduction and strangulation

Court date: pending | Bond: held WITHOUT bond

 

Sexual Battery – On November 10th, detectives from the Special Victim’s Unit responded to investigate a sexual battery allegation which was reported to have occurred at the Patient First located at 9715 Liberia Ave in Manassas (20110). The victim, a 23 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that during an examination he was sexually assaulted by the accused, a physician at the facility. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested on December 3rd.

Arrested on December 3rd:

Tony Chieuvan Bui NGUYEN, 35, of 10294 Greenspire Dr in Oakton

Charged with sexual battery

Court date: January 13, 2015 | Status: released on a court summons
