Prince William County Police Daily Incident Report for Friday, July 11, 2014

Strong Armed Robbery – On July 10th at 11:44AM, officers responded to Potomac Mills Mall located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery.

The victim, a 28 year old woman of Alexandria, reported to police that she was confronted by an unknown man while inside the mall.

The man eventually walked away from the victim but confronted her again in the parking lot. During the encounter, the victim reached for her cell phone to call police. At that point, the man forcibly grabbed the victim’s cell phone and fled the area. Officers located a man that matched the description provided by the victim.

Following the investigation, the man, identified as the accused, was determined to be the suspect involved in the prior incident and was arrested. During a search, the victim’s cell phone was recovered in the suspect’s possession.

Felony Child Neglect | Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor – On July 10th at 8:40AM, officers responded to the 2900 block of Marsala Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an unattended child. Officers arrived in the area and located a 4 year old girl walking by herself, unsupervised. Officers followed the girl back to an unsecured residence on Marsala Ct. Police checked the home in an attempt to locate a guardian for the child. Inside the home, officers located an infant child in a bedroom and an adult sleeping in a separate bedroom. That adult was identified as a family member of both children. While at the residence, the children’s guardians, identified as the accused individuals below, returned home. During the investigation, officers learned that both accused individuals left the children in the residence without notifying the other adult. During that time, the 4 year old girl was able to get out of the residence and walk down the street prompting the call to police. Both children were unharmed. Following the investigation, both individuals were arrested.

Narcotics Investigation – On July 10th, detectives from the Prince William-Manassas-Manassas Park Narcotics Task Force concluded a narcotics investigation involving the selling the marijuana and cocaine with the execution of a search warrant at 11005 Tower Pl in Manassas (20109). During the search, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, evidence of distribution, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency were seized. The below arrest was also made without incident.

Arrested on July 10th:

Richard Lee SMITH, 20, of 11005 Tower Pl in Manassas

Charged with 2 counts of distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic and 1 count of distribution of marijuana

Court date: August 8, 2014 | Bond: $15,000 secured
