Michael M. McCarraher took his turn too wide; was nearly three times the legal limit in DUI arrest

<p><em><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2014&sol;11&sol;MSP-choose-a-sober-driver&period;jpg"><img class&equals;"alignleft size-full wp-image-6751" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2014&sol;11&sol;MSP-choose-a-sober-driver&period;jpg" alt&equals;"MSP choose a sober driver" width&equals;"786" height&equals;"456" &sol;><&sol;a>Possession of Marijuana&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;em>  On November 11&comma; 2014&comma; at approximately 1312 hours&comma; troopers assigned to the Berlin Barrack stopped a Ford truck as the driver was not wearing his seatbelt&period;  Upon making contact with the driver&comma; identified as <strong>Richard Stacey Gulan<&sol;strong>&comma; troopers could detect an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle&period;  Gulan was asked about the marijuana&comma; and he did in fact indicate there was marijuana in the vehicle&period;  The marijuana was subsequently located&comma; and it weighed 21&period;9 grams&period;  Gulan was arrested and taken before a District Court Commissioner before being released on his own recognizance&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>DUI-Related Collision&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;em>  On November 6&comma; 2014 at approximately 1613 hours&comma; <strong>Michael M&period; McCarraher<&sol;strong> was driving a 1994 Jeep Wrangler north along MD Route 589 when he attempted to turn onto Beauchamp Road&period;  McCarraher was not able to properly turn &lpar;turned wide&rpar; and struck the driver&&num;8217&semi;s side door of a 2010 Nissan Rogue stopped on Beauchamp Road at the intersection awaiting for the traffic light to change&period;  McCarraher was deemed to be impaired and subsequently arrested&period;  He submitted to an evidentiary breath test with a result of 0&period;19 grams of alcohol&period;  There were no injuries in the collision&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>Fatal Collision<&sol;strong><&sol;em><em><strong>&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;em>  On November 6&comma; 2014 at approximately 0807 hours&comma; troopers from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack responded to eastbound U&period;S&period; Route 50 at Maryland Route 346&comma; Berlin&comma; Worcester County for a report of a motor vehicle collision&period;  Preliminary investigation suggested a Volvo&comma; driven by Donna Clarke of Berlin&comma; was attempting to cross over eastbound U&period;S&period; Route 50 from MD Route 346&period;  A Mazda&comma; driven by<strong> Lauren King of Salisbury<&sol;strong>&comma; was traveling along eastbound US Route 50 and collided with the Volvo&period;    Both parties were transported to the hospital for injuries suffered in the collision&period;  Upon arriving at <strong>Atlantic General Hospital i<&sol;strong>n Berlin&comma; the driver of the Volva&comma; <strong>Donna Clarke<&sol;strong>&comma; died as a result of her injuries&period;  The collision still remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police Reconstruction Team&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>DUI-Related Collision&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;em>  On November 1&comma; 2014 at approximately 0202 hrs&comma; troopers responded to MD Route 90 and Ocean Parkway for a reported single vehicle collision&period;  Through the investigation it was determined <strong>Nicholas Thompson-Riviere of Bishopville&comma;<&sol;strong> Maryland&comma; was driving westbound along MD Route 90 when he lost control&period;  The vehicle he was driving left the right roadside&comma; struck a guardrail and then struck a tree&period;   The vehicle was destroyed and Thompson-Riviere had to be extricated from the wreckage&comma; and he was taken to PRMC in Salisbury for injuries&period;  Troopers noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Thompson-Riviere&comma; and he was subsequently charged with DUI&period;  Troopers want to remind drivers not to drink and drive&comma; and if you notice a vehicle being driven erratically to notify the Berlin Barrack at 410-641-3101 or dial &num;77 from your cell phone&period;  Stopping an impaired driver could save a life&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
