<p>(<strong>LEXINGTON PARK, MD. Oct. 2, 2014</strong>) Maryland State Police made an arrest in the case of the Lexington Park movie theatre robbery which took place on September 30, 2014. The robber was a former employee of the movie theatre, perhaps tasked with selling extra shots of butter on popcorn and now, if convicted, will be buttering up Bubba in the Big House.</p>
<p>Tfc Reuschling from Maryland State Police-Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region identified William Chinedu Ozah, 21, of Leonardtown as the suspect that committed the armed robbery on September 29, 2014 at the AMC Lowes Theatre, located in Lexington Park, St. Mary&#8217;s Co., MD. Investigation revealed suspect Ozah was a prior employee of AMC Lowes Theatre. An arrest warrant was obtained for Ozah charging him with: Armed Robbery, First and Second degree Assault, Theft over $1,000.00 and Felon using a handgun in violation of a crime.</p>
<p>On October 2, 2014 at 0030 hrs, in collaboration with the Maryland State Apprehension Team (MSAT), investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region and Patrol Troopers from the MSP Leonardtown Barrack located Ozah at a residence in the Leonardtown area of St. Mary’s County. Ozah was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing and released to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commission.</p>
<p>The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office.<br />

<p>LEXINGTON PARK, MD. (<strong>Sept. 30, 2014</strong>) On September 29, 2014 at 2209 hrs, Troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack responded to the AMC Lowes Theatres, <strong>21882 FDR Blvd</strong>., Lexington Park, St. Mary&#8217;s Co., MD for a reported robbery.</p>
<p>When Troopers arrived on the scene, they made contact with the manager of <strong>AMC Lowes Theatre.</strong> Investigation revealed the manager was walking to her vehicle when she was approached by an African American male with dreadlocks and a ski mask.</p>
<p><strong><em>The suspect brandished a handgun and ordered her back into the movie theater</em></strong>. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled from the scene.</p>
<p>Investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division-Central South Region responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Danger-Lurks-at-Movies.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-6161" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Danger-Lurks-at-Movies-300x231.jpg" alt="Danger Lurks at Movies" width="300" height="231" /></a>Muggings and robberies have been plaguing Lexington Park so much over the years that St. Mary&#8217;s Sheriff Tim Cameron created an election-year response last fall, dubbed the Lexington Park COPS unit, which must have been off duty on Sept. 29th.</p>
<p>One robbery of movie patrons resulted in the capture of the teenage robbers and they were quickly returned to the streets to rob again due to Maryland&#8217;s lackadaisical system of justice for criminals which usually means mayhem for the public.</p>
<p>At times, the movie theatre management has guided patrons to leave by the side entrances which were dark and dangerous instead of through the better lit area of the front doors. With a new multi-plex of movie theatres being built across from Wildewood Shopping Center, the owner of the AMC Lowes will either provide proper security for employees and patrons or eventually close as the public seeks a safe place to see a movie.</p>
<p>For most of the past ten years several hobo camps have existed within walking distance of the movie theatre parking lot.</p>
<p>Shopping Centers in Lexington Park formerly hired off-duty officers to provide evening security and that worked. Property owners pay high taxes and expect police protection without having to hire their own private security.</p>
