PGPD Arrests Suspect in Murder of Jacinto Perez
Warrant Obtained for Second Suspect
The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a suspect in the murder of 28-year-old Jacinto Perez in Laurel. The suspect is 32-year-old Santos Leonel Mejia-Yanes of Finsbury Court in Laurel. Detectives also obtained a warrant for a second suspect. He’s 34-year-old Bayron Cruz-Vargas also of Finsbury Court.
On August 24, 2014, at approximately 9:20 am, patrol officers were called to the 8800 block of Enfield Court for a body found in a bag. Once on scene, officers discovered a second bag with body parts in it. Perez was later identified as the victim.
The suspects and victim were roommates. The preliminary investigation reveals the three men got into an argument inside their apartment that turned violent and ultimately escalated to the murder.
Meija-Yanes is charged with first and second degree murder. He’s in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no bond status. He has admitted his involvement. Cruz-Vargas is charged with first degree murder as well as first degree assault and other charges.
