Norfolk Police Beat / Woman left for dead by driver that fled

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Police report that woman struck by a vehicle Friday night, July 21, 2017, in the Ocean View area of the city died from her injuries.

Around 10:20 p.m. police responded to the 1400 block of East Ocean View Avenue for a hit and run motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

When police arrived they found an adult woman lying in the street. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The vehicle that struck her had fled the area. The Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run.

The identity of the deceased woman will not be released until her family has been notified.
