Prince Georges Police Beat: cops seek cell phone store robber who sought “Redemption” at gunpoint

Prince George’s Police report that a suspect this week should be seeking redemption. He wore a shirt with the word “redemption” when he committed an armed robbery at an Oxon Hill cell phone store. On Monday, he walked into the store in the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway at about 10:15 am, displayed a gun and demanded cash. No one was hurt in the robbery. The suspects are identified as 52-year-old Wayne David Burley of the 4300 block of Canyon View Drive in Upper Marlboro and 23-year-old Ernest Antonio Ward of the 1400 block of K Street in Southeast Washington. They are charged with multiple drug possession charges.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old man had walked eastbound from the grassy median, onto the northbound lanes of West Ox Road; not in a crosswalk. At that time, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by a 50-year-old Alexandria man was traveling northbound on West Ox Road just north of Polo Drive. The Malibu struck the pedestrian as he walked into the roadway. The driver of the Malibu remained on the scene.

Beltway Police Beat: Gary Lionell Jackson dead in Lanham crash

— The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal car crash in Lanham. The victim is 62-year-old Gary Lionell Jackson of Ridge Street in Lanham.

On July 4, 2014, at about 10:15 pm, patrol officers were called to the 11400 block of Lanham Severn Road for the report of a crash involving a single car. When they arrived, they discovered the car had struck a tree. The passenger, Jackson, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver suffered minor injuries

Prince George Police report that they have issued a violation notice to the owners of Hangar Club ordering their business closed on June 27, 2014.

The Hangar Club is in the 6400 block of Old Branch Avenue in Temple Hills. The business was found operating without the required use and occupancy permit.
